OUR TEAM:
We're launching a brand-new Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) engineering team, building a platform from the ground up to help our partners collect donations, evaluate families for scholarship eligibility, and distribute funds. If you want the chance to build a new product, drive technical direction, and work on a small team where your work is impactful, then this is that kind of role.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a key component of our development team. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and other internal teams to understand customer needs and turn them into technical solutions. We work in a .NET stack with Angular, but we value engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn over specific tech experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Researches, designs, implements and manages software applications.
  • Partners with Product and Engineering team to define requirements.
  • Write, test, and implement efficient code.
  • Review and provide feedback on pull requests.
  • Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow.
  • Coach and mentor other team members.
  • Stay positive and solution-oriented with team members and stakeholders.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of related experience.
COMPETENCIES - SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
  • Strong technical competency, with a logical, analytical, and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and management on complex issues.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
  • Adapts well to change and focuses on continuous improvement.

Annual compensation range for this role is $120,000- $150,000
This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of work-life integration. Our hybrid work environment allows associates living within 30 miles of an office location to work remotely for part of the week, while also fostering collaboration and team connection through in-office presence three days per week.
