The Web Services Manager is responsible for leading the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of SecureCom Wireless APIs and web services. This role provides both technical and people leadership for a team of software developers, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions that support business objectives and customer needs.
The Web Services Manager serves as a technical subject matter expert in Ruby on Rails development while maintaining active involvement in software design, coding, testing, and implementation. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, improve development processes, ensure timely project delivery, and maintain high standards of performance, reliability, and security across all web service platforms.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing applications and services using Ruby on Rails.
  • Previous supervisory, team lead, or management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of API development, web services architecture, software development methodologies, and application security best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities, allocate resources, delegate work, and meet project deadlines.

  1. Lead and continuously improve the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of APIs and web services supporting SecureCom Wireless products and applications.
  2. Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Ruby on Rails development and related technologies while remaining actively involved in software development activities.
  3. Develop and execute departmental goals, priorities, and project plans that align with organizational objectives and customer requirements.
  4. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to software development team members in the areas of architecture, design, coding standards, testing, and troubleshooting.
  5. Assign projects and tasks through Jira, establish schedules and deadlines, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  6. Collaborate with engineering, product management, quality assurance, technical support, and other departments to ensure efficient execution of projects and alignment of business objectives.
  7. Ensure software solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and free from defects while meeting customer expectations for performance and reliability.
  8. Manage department resources, workload planning, and budget objectives to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  9. Prepare and present regular reports to the Director of Software regarding project status, team performance, risks, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives.
  10. Participate in the recruitment, hiring, development, performance management, and retention of team members in partnership with Human Resources.
  11. Manage third-party vendors, contractors, and external service providers as necessary to support departmental objectives.
  12. Evaluate existing development processes, tools, and technologies and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, scalability, and team effectiveness.
  13. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, security requirements, and development best practices to ensure modern and effective solutions.
  14. Observe and adhere to DMP Data Classification Standards.
  15. Observe company policies and continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time, eliminate waste, and increase customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance with requirements.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by the needs of the organization.
