The Opportunity

Apply Your Structural Craftsmanship to High-Stakes Builds. Step Into a Defined Management Pipeline.

A. Pickett Construction is a premier, family-owned commercial general contractor seeking an expert-level Senior Commercial Carpenter to anchor our field building operations. This strategic role is engineered exclusively for a seasoned trade professional who wants to transition out of standard production labor and step directly onto a fast-tracked advancement pathway.

With our company experiencing rapid regional expansion while a generation of senior field staff prepares for retirement, we are actively positioning this role to transition into a Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager position. You will have total operational autonomy to execute complex commercial builds while being fully supported by a legacy firm that invests heavily in your wealth, tools, and long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities

You will serve as the primary structural authority on-site, directing high-end carpentry execution and keeping aggressive construction schedules moving forward:

  • Expert Structural Fabrication: Execute expert-level rough and finish carpentry configurations for large-scale commercial facilities, industrial complexes, and institutional properties.
  • On-Site Autonomy: Command field logistics across multiple high-priority jobsites with high organizational efficiency and zero micromanagement.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Investigate and resolve complex architectural conflicts, blueprint discrepancies, and structural field obstacles on-site to preserve building momentum.
  • Project Liaison Operations: Partner directly with Project Managers and Estimators to clarify technical engineering specifications and relay critical milestone progress reports.
  • Mentorship & Quality Standards: Actively direct, train, and mentor junior carpenters and field apprentices, enforcing the company’s elite standards for structural precision and jobsite safety.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

  • Trade Foundation: A minimum of 5 years of verified, hands-on professional carpentry experience specifically within a commercial or industrial building environment.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in the safe, precise operation of a comprehensive array of commercial power machinery, pneumatic fastening equipment, and technical hand tools.
  • Leadership Aptitude: Strong interpersonal communication skills paired with a growth-oriented, proactive mindset. You are ready to step up and run a crew.
  • Mobility & Logistics: A valid Driver’s License is strictly required to maintain immediate insurability under our corporate fleet policy, along with the flexibility to travel to regional project locations.

Preferred Technical Background:

  • Specialized, high-tier fabrication skills in architectural joinery, commercial cabinet-making, or custom finish millwork.
  • Prior experience operating as a lead hand, sub-foreman, or supervisor on an active commercial layout.
  • Referenceable project history working on complex, ground-up commercial structures or large-scale multi-phase facility renovations.
  • Prior military service (Veterans are highly encouraged to apply!).

Compensation & Premium Benefits

We treat our builders as essential long-term partners, offering an elite compensation structure built for performance and wealth retention:

  • Competitive Base Pay: $19.00 – $25.00 per hour customized directly to your trade tenure, backed by lucrative performance bonuses.
  • Immediate Cash Incentives: A $1,500.00 Sign-On Bonus to transition to our team, plus premium Night Shift and Out-of-Town Differentials to maximize your weekly paycheck.
  • Ownership & Shared Wealth: Full entry into a corporate 401(k) Retirement Program alongside highly lucrative Employee Profit Sharing plans.
  • Fast-Tracked Advancement: Highly defined, accelerated pathways to structural Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, or Estimator roles, supported by continuous company-paid leadership development.
