Systems Administrator - TS/SCI Job Description

TENAX Technologies is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Air National Guard (ANG) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Special Operations Center (RPA-SOC).

This is a hands-on technical position supporting mission-critical IT infrastructure used in 24/7/365 RPA operations. The Systems Administrator will work with physical and virtual servers, VMware, Active Directory, enterprise storage, Windows systems, backups, patching, cybersecurity requirements, and specialized mission systems in a secure environment.

This position is ideal for a cleared IT professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working directly with customers and technical teams, and taking ownership of issues from identification through resolution.

Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000 per year

Starting salary is based on experience, certifications, technical background, and overall qualifications. Most qualified candidates can expect a starting salary between $70,000 and $80,000, with compensation toward the upper end of the range available for candidates with advanced certifications, extensive experience, or highly relevant technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Windows servers, workstations, virtual machines, storage systems, and software supporting RPA operations.
  • Perform Active Directory administration, including user accounts, permissions, Group Policy, and related Windows services.
  • Administer and troubleshoot VMware virtualized environments, including ESXi, vCenter, and virtual servers.
  • Maintain SAN/storage, backups, data retention, and system recovery capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot server, workstation, hardware, software, network, storage, and application issues.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain physical and virtual systems.
  • Perform system backups and maintain configurations for critical equipment.
  • Support STIG compliance, vulnerability remediation, IAVA requirements, patching, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Troubleshoot Dell and other commercial server, workstation, and storage hardware.
  • Support specialized video encoding, decoding, recording, and communications systems.
  • Configure and maintain systems to meet security baselines and operational requirements.
  • Work directly with military personnel, Government customers, engineers, and other technical staff to troubleshoot issues and maintain mission availability.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of Systems Administration or related IT experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Windows workstations.
  • Experience with Active Directory administration.
  • Experience working in VMware or other virtualized server environments.
  • Experience with servers, storage/SAN technologies, backups, software installation, and patching.
  • Working knowledge of computer networking and network-connected systems.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity practices and maintaining secure IT environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical personnel, users, military leadership, and Government customers.
Clearance & Certification Requirements

Candidates must meet both requirements to be considered:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI access.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site position.

The RPA-SOC operates 24/7/365. Depending on the assigned shift and mission requirements, schedules may include:

Work Environment

This is an in-person position supporting systems within a secure facility. Work is primarily performed in an office and technical environment. The position may occasionally require lifting equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
