Schaeffler is a dynamic global technology company and its success has been a result of its entrepreneurial spirit and long history of private ownership. As a partner to all of the major automobile manufacturers, as well as key players in the aerospace and industrial sectors, we offer you many development opportunities.
Your Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering Co-Op to join our Humanoid Robotics team. As we transition our current projects from R&D into viable, real-world products for our customers, you will work directly alongside senior engineers across a range of applications.
In this role, you will apply hands-on technical skills to verify designs through dynamic calculations, modify system components using 3D modeling, and validate performance via real-world prototype testing. Your workload may be dedicated to a single project or distributed across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform theoretical calculations, including torque and force analysis, motor power sizing, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) analysis.
  • 3D CAD Design: Utilize Creo to model basic parts and design custom test fixturing for current and upcoming development projects.
  • Simulation & Modeling: Conduct detailed model analyses using Ansys FEA, Matlab simulations, and first-principles hand calculations to verify design functionality against application requirements.
  • Prototype Build Assistance: Collaborate with senior engineers during the physical assembly of prototype systems bound for customer delivery.
  • Test Plan Development & Execution: Draft structured test procedures, set up test rigs, and execute validation testing on prototypes and newly developed systems.

Your Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Ability to commute to the assigned work location
  • Software & Tool Experience:
    • 3D CAD modeling (Creo preferred)
    • Finite Element Analysis (Ansys)
    • Technical computing & simulation tools (Matlab)
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical capabilities, basic understanding of electromechanical integration, and a practical hands-on approach to prototyping and troubleshooting
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship
