Position Summary:

The RN in the Recovery Room provides expert professional nursing care for the patient during the pre and post-operative course. The RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care of patients that are under the effects of anesthesia. The RN must have excellent observation skills, critical thinking skills, and be able to make quick and effective decisions.

Minimum Education

Graduate of an accredited/ approved school of nursing as an Associate Degree/ Diploma Nurse; Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

One year of nursing experience required, two years preferred.

Required Skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of appropriate equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective patient outcomes. Detail oriented, with ability to prioritize and multitask. Ability to apply sound judgment with clinical skills for optimal patient care. Demonstrates flexibility by accepting and supporting changes in work assignments as related to department and patient needs.

Certifications/License

Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or Multistate license.

Current BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
