About Coastal Engineering
Coastal Engineering is a specialized VOSB marine construction firm delivering complex, high-quality waterfront and underwater infrastructure projects along the East Coast. We are driven by a commitment to innovation, safety, sustainability, and executional excellence.
Coastal Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead estimating and preconstruction activities for dredging projects throughout the East Coast.
This is a key position within a growing organization and will play an important role in identifying opportunities, developing competitive estimates, evaluating project risk, and supporting the company's continued expansion into new markets.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned marine construction professional who understands not only how to price a project, but how the work will be performed in the field.
Key Responsibilities
β€’ Review project plans, specifications, scopes, and bid requirements
β€’ Develop accurate estimates, take-offs, and pricing for marine construction and commercial diving projects
β€’ Evaluate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production requirements
β€’ Develop project approach, means and methods, and preliminary schedules
β€’ Solicit and review pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
β€’ Identify project risks, exclusions, and potential cost impacts
β€’ Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and discussions with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
β€’ Prepare and finalize competitive bids and proposals
β€’ Work closely with Operations and Project Management to support successful project turnover
β€’ Assist with change order pricing, cost analysis, and other estimating needs as projects progress
Requirements
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in dredging, marine construction or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience
  • Strong understanding of dredging operations, equipment, production, and means and methods
  • Experience estimating dredging projects preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software
  • Experience working with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, USCG, DOT and other government contracts.
  • Experience with dredging and marine environmental projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
