Senior Industrial Engineering Specialist - Wayne County, MI
Adecco Permanent Recruitment has partnered with a leading industrial services and engineering organization to identify a skilled Senior Industrial Engineering Specialist. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced mechanical professional with expertise in industrial equipment installation, rigging, relocation, maintenance, and field service support.
This position offers the opportunity to travel nationwide while working on complex industrial projects for manufacturing and production facilities across multiple industries.
Compensation: $26 - $30/hour + Overtime Earning Potential
Key Responsibilities
Rig, install, assemble, disassemble, relocate, and service industrial mechanical equipment.
Operate industrial rigging and material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, Versa-Lifts, and specialized moving equipment.
Execute equipment installations according to engineering drawings, schematics, and customer specifications.
Document equipment disassembly procedures to support efficient reassembly and relocation.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery and equipment.
Perform maintenance activities including bearing, shaft, pulley, belt, and chain replacements.
Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, alignment, and equipment inspections.
Support utility infrastructure modifications involving compressed air, natural gas, chilled water, tower water, and related piping systems.
Fabricate pallets and prepare equipment for transportation between facilities.
Load and unload trailers using powered industrial equipment.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members while maintaining a strong presence in the field.
Collaborate with project teams, operations personnel, customers, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
Promote and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
QualificationsRequired Skills
Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States (up to 100% travel).
Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Experience operating industrial equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, pipe threaders, roll groovers, and power tools.
Mechanical troubleshooting and repair expertise.
Basic electrical knowledge, including low-voltage controls and power distribution systems.
Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying weather and facility conditions.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and variable schedules as project needs require.
Experience & Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical certification, vocational training, or trade school education in a mechanical, industrial, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical service, millwright, rigging, machinery installation, or a related field.
Must possess a reliable vehicle and maintain a basic set of hand tools.
