Overview

CEC has experienced significant recent growth and has established itself as the go-to supplier for a diversified product line supporting a wide spectrum of markets from commercial products, military customers, to space research laboratories.
The Principal RF Engineer is an Individual Contributor, with proficiency in electrical engineering subjects such as RF, digital and analog design, who performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new state-of-the-art transmission systems. The opportunity is targeted toward engineers who enjoy working in a systems environment as it includes designing multiple electrical elements of a product, interacting with mechanical and software team members, developing PCB and system requirements, and supporting system test teams.
Responsibilities
  • Ideate and design critical capabilities needed for future product capabilities and cost reduction needs for transmit and receive solutions
  • Maintain a high level of technical competence and state-of-the-art awareness of ultra-high power RF communication systems
  • Support assessment of the feasibility of new business opportunities
  • Identify customer's technical expectations and communicate to the project team
  • Perform detailed technical analysis and design at the subsystem or system level using tools such as Matlab/Simulink, RF Pathwave, Ansys HFSS, Spice, Feko, etc ...
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership on programs, working in collaboration with the Program Manager and Project Engineering Lead, to mentor the development team to achieve the committed product functionality in the timeline of the agreed contract
  • Support all customer, contract and regulatory technical compliance
  • Support critical suppliers for evaluation of the supplier's solution, and testing, in terms of being able to meet the customer and regulatory requirements at the proposal and/or project stages
  • Anticipate and manage technical risks on the projects and develop mitigation plans
  • Support site installations and troubleshooting as needed, as a system expert, in support of the Field Service Representative team
  • Champion & implement cross-team/intra-team collaboration and continuous improvement in product designs and engineering practices, with a mindset for subsystem reuse

Qualifications
  • 12 years of experience with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or 8 years of experience with an MS
  • Deeply skilled at translating system level requirements to implementation
  • Extensive RF fundamental knowledge such as impedance matching, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth and stability
  • Experience with mixed signal design, specifically one or more of the following: SoC/FPGAs, A/D Converters, Digital Down Converters, D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
  • Ability to create schematics and wire lists
  • Excellent Problem-solving and lab debugging skills
  • Hands-on experience in RF tuning and using RF instruments
  • Experience with VLF/LF through X-Band transmitter and receiver design
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills and the ability to influence others for optimum interaction with project teams, management and customers as well as creating required technical documentation
  • Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment with various concurrent projects and competing priorities
  • Ability to obtain DoD issued Secret clearance within one year (per client requirements)
  • Some travel will be required

Pay may range from $160,000 to $190,000 annually
The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.
Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
