Senior Remote Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Senior Remote Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Remote Engineer, you need advanced programming skills, deep understanding of software architecture, and several years of experience in your tech stack, often backed by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS or Azure), version control systems (such as Git), and collaboration tools (Slack, Jira) is typically required. Strong self-motivation, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities set top performers apart in remote environments. These skills and qualities are vital for delivering high-quality solutions, collaborating across distributed teams, and adapting to the demands of remote work.

How does a Senior Remote Engineer typically collaborate with distributed teams across different time zones?

As a Senior Remote Engineer, effective collaboration with globally distributed teams often involves leveraging asynchronous communication tools and flexible scheduling. You may participate in regular video stand-ups, use project management platforms to track progress, and document decisions thoroughly to keep everyone aligned. It's common to overlap a few core working hours with teammates in different regions, ensuring key meetings and code reviews can happen without significant delays. Building strong written communication skills and proactively sharing updates are crucial to maintaining productivity and fostering teamwork in a remote setting.

What is a Senior Remote Engineer?

A Senior Remote Engineer is an experienced software engineer who works primarily from a remote location rather than onsite at a company's office. They are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software systems, collaborating with distributed teams, and often mentoring junior engineers. Senior Remote Engineers typically have advanced technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and are self-motivated to manage their workload independently. Their role may also involve making architectural decisions and ensuring best practices are followed in codebases.

Job description

ImagineX is a tech company that deploys AI‑assisted teams to build and secure mission‑critical enterprise solutions with our clients – spanning software, data, and AI. Structured like a software company, not a traditional consultancy, we blend deep technical expertise with authentic values, achieving world‑class satisfaction (NPS 91). Our dedicated teams specialize in software, data, and AI across the U.S. and LATAM, bridging the gap between boutique agility and enterprise scale.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to join our high‑performing engineering team. In this role, you will architect, automate, and optimize cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines that support mission‑critical enterprise systems. You’ll collaborate closely with software and data engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions for our clients.

This is a hands‑on senior role for someone who thrives in automation‑first environments, enjoys solving complex cloud challenges, and wants to influence DevOps strategy across multiple projects.  You\'ll enjoy working 100% remote in this full-time position.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM).
  • Design, build, and optimize Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
  • Manage and automate provisioning, configuration, and scaling across multiple environments.
  • Deploy, secure, and maintain Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters and containerized workloads.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure Monitor, App Insights, and Log Analytics.
  • Partner with engineering teams to streamline build, test, and deployment workflows.
  • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity, secrets management, and network controls.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive long‑term reliability improvements.
  • Champion DevOps culture, automation, and continuous improvement across teams.
What You Bring
  • 5–8+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure, including services such as:
    • Azure App Services, Functions
    • AKS, ACR
    • Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Storage Accounts
    • VNETs, Private Endpoints, Firewalls
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD platforms.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred).
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Hands‑on experience with Docker and container orchestration.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, identity, and governance.
  • Experience implementing observability and incident response workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally.
Nice to Have
  • Azure certifications (AZ‑104, AZ‑400, AZ‑305, etc.)
  • Experience with service mesh, API gateways, or distributed systems
  • Background in .NET, Node.js, or backend engineering
  • Experience with FinOps or cloud cost optimization
  • Familiarity with SOC2, Zero Trust, or other compliance frameworks
Why ImagineX
  • 100% remote work environment
  • High‑impact engineering culture with strong autonomy
  • Opportunity to influence cloud architecture and DevOps strategy
  • Work with AI‑assisted teams and cutting‑edge technologies
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
