Senior Remote Bioinformatics Scientist information

What does a senior remote bioinformatics scientist do?

A Senior Remote Bioinformatics Scientist leads projects that analyze complex biological data, such as genetic sequences, using computational methods. They design and implement algorithms, develop software tools, and collaborate with researchers to interpret large-scale datasets. Working remotely, they often manage teams, oversee data quality, and help translate findings into actionable insights for research or clinical applications. Their expertise is crucial for advances in genomics, drug discovery, and personalized medicine.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior remote bioinformatics scientist?

To thrive as a Senior Remote Bioinformatics Scientist, you need advanced knowledge of computational biology, genomics, statistics, and a relevant advanced degree (often PhD) in bioinformatics or a related field. Expertise with programming languages like Python, R, bioinformatics pipelines, and familiarity with cloud computing platforms are typically required, along with experience using tools such as BLAST, GATK, and Nextflow. Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to collaborate virtually distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies ensure effective analysis of complex biological data, reliable scientific insights, and seamless teamwork in a remote environment.

How does a senior remote bioinformatics scientist typically collaborate with cross-functional teams while working remotely?

As a Senior Remote Bioinformatics Scientist, you'll frequently collaborate with biologists, data analysts, and software engineers through virtual meetings, shared code repositories, and cloud-based data platforms. Communication skills are essential, as you'll often translate complex bioinformatics findings for non-technical stakeholders and contribute to project planning. Regular video conferences, collaborative tools (like Slack or Jira), and scheduled check-ins help ensure alignment and smooth teamwork despite the remote setup. This collaborative structure enables you to provide scientific insight while staying connected with the broader research and development goals of the organization.

What is the difference between Senior Remote Bioinformatics Scientist vs Bioinformatics Analyst?

AspectSenior Remote Bioinformatics ScientistBioinformatics Analyst
Required CredentialsAdvanced degree (MSc, PhD) in Bioinformatics, Biology, or related field; extensive experienceBachelor's or Master's in Bioinformatics, Biology, or related field; less experience required
Work EnvironmentRemote, collaborative research teams, biotech or pharma companiesRemote or on-site, research labs, healthcare institutions, or biotech firms
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in biotech, pharma, research institutions for complex data analysisUsed in healthcare, research, and biotech for data processing and reporting

The main difference is that a Senior Remote Bioinformatics Scientist typically has more advanced education and experience, focusing on complex data analysis and research leadership, while a Bioinformatics Analyst handles data processing and reporting with less seniority and experience.

Remote Sensing Software Engineer, Senior
The Opportunity
As a Senior Remote Sensing Software Engineer, you will architect advanced SDA and remote sensing exploitation pipelines, guide technical direction, and lead multi-disciplinary teams building high-fidelity space observation analytics. You will shape next-generation tools that integrate imaging physics, ML-based behavior inference, and multi-sensor fusion.
You'll join a collaborative technical delivery team where you'll contribute to secure, reliable, user-centric tools that accelerate mission outcomes.
What You'll Do:
  • Architect end-to-end remote sensing processing systems for EO/IR missions
  • Lead development of radiometric and spectral response models
  • Oversee advanced imaging algorithms including multi-frame super-resolution, deconvolution, target phenomenology detection, and low-SNR enhancement
  • Direct ML-based anomaly detection, behavior classification, and object discrimination frameworks
  • Design multi-sensor fusion pipelines integrating GEOINT, Radar, RF, and optical data using Bayesian or ML-based methods
  • Lead trajectory estimation and 3D kinematic modeling, including IOD, parallax exploitation, and uncertainty quantification
  • Architect scalable scientific computing solutions using Python, C++, CUDA, HPC clusters, or cloud-native platforms
  • Mentor junior engineers and help set technical road maps in collaboration with client and mission leadership

Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 8+ years of experience in remote sensing, image or signal processing, or GEOINT data exploitation
  • Experience with orbital mechanics, satellite characterization, Domain-specific applications or SDA operational workflows
  • Experience with Python, scientific Python packages or other Object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or JavaScript
  • Experience architecting with large-scale software environments such as CUDA, HPC or cloud
  • Experience with ML systems for imagery processing, target detection, tracking, or object classification
  • Experience with administration of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Kubernetes, Docker, or Jenkins
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with remote sensing systems in support of missile warning or tracking missions
  • Experience with building or training synthetic models for simulation-aided training
  • Experience integrating EO/IR, RF, Radar, or GEOINT tracks into fused solutions
  • Experience with uncertainty quantification, Kalman filtering, or tracking algorithms
  • Experience with AI-augmented development workflows or agentic tools
  • Ability to display a record of publications, whitepapers, presentations or mission briefings
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field preferred; Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field a plus

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
