Senior React Native information
What is a senior React Native?
A Senior React Native job involves developing and maintaining mobile applications using React Native, focusing on performance, scalability, and user experience. Senior developers are responsible for writing clean, efficient code, troubleshooting issues, optimizing app performance, and integrating third-party APIs. They also mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with designers and product teams to ensure high-quality applications. Strong expertise in JavaScript, React, and mobile development best practices is essential.
What are some common challenges a senior React Native developer might encounter in this role?
Senior React Native developers often face challenges such as optimizing app performance across both iOS and Android platforms, integrating native modules, and managing dependencies or compatibility issues with third-party libraries. Collaborating effectively with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers can also be complex, as aligning cross-functional goals and timelines is key. Additionally, you may be responsible for code reviews, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring best practices are followed throughout the development cycle. Embracing these challenges can help further your expertise and contribute to delivering high-quality, user-friendly mobile applications.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the senior React Native position, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Senior React Native, you need advanced JavaScript proficiency, in-depth experience with React Native frameworks, and a solid understanding of mobile app development best practices, usually backed by several years of hands-on experience. Familiarity with tools like Redux, TypeScript, native APIs, debugging utilities, and common CI/CD pipelines is typically required. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help you mentor junior developers and collaborate across teams. These capabilities are vital to deliver robust, scalable mobile solutions and foster high-performing development environments.

Job description
Reporting to a Director or Sr. Director of Engineering, the Staff Engineer operates across multiple teams and departments as a technical authority for significant portions of our systems that power our digital capabilities and experiences on Caesars.com and Caesars Rewards digital loyalty platforms. These experiences encompass websites, apps, bots, voice, and emerging digital channels focusing on hospitality experiences.
The Caesars Entertainment Ecommerce and Digital Product team delivers exciting digital customer experiences across a wide set of product modalities that fuel the imaginations and eliminates friction for our guests at home, at our resorts, or on the go. Our iconic global brands include Caesars Palace, Eldorado, Flamingo, Horseshoe, The LINQ, Harrah's, Tropicana, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Nobu Hotel, and many more.
The Staff Engineer drives technical strategy alignment, influences roadmaps, and ensures architectural consistency across teams. They handle the most complex technical challenges in their department and establish patterns that become organizational standards. Their decisions shape how dozens of engineers approach problems, connecting millions of customers to our entertainment, dining, shopping, and hospitality experiences.
Responsibilities
- Cross-Team Architectural Leadership: Drives technical strategy alignment and ensures architectural consistency across multiple teams. Makes decisions that shape how dozens of engineers approach problems. Establishes patterns and standards adopted across the department.
- Complex Problem Resolution: Handles the most complex technical challenges in the department - large-scale redesigns, distributed system optimization, and new technology paradigms. Serves as the escalation point for novel problems that require deep expertise and creative solutions.
- Strategic Technical Planning: Identifies and solves problems others haven't seen yet, working from minimal direction. Spots inefficiencies, technical debt, or architectural gaps affecting multiple teams and develops comprehensive proposals with business justification. Translates strategic objectives into multi-quarter technical roadmaps with clear success metrics.
- High-Leverage Hands-On Work: Writes code regularly, focusing on critical infrastructure, complex algorithms, architectural implementations, and proof-of-concepts. Contributes to the most challenging technical problems, often writing code that unblocks multiple teams.
- Technology Evaluation: Independently evaluates and introduces technologies and patterns that affect multiple teams. Leads proof-of-concepts and pilots for new tools, frameworks, and architectural approaches. Provides recommendations grounded in practical experience and organizational context.
- Quality & Standards: Reviews architecture and code across teams, setting quality standards. Drives improvements to engineering practices including testing, observability, security, and deployment patterns at the department level.
- Mentorship & Technical Growth: Mentors senior engineers and contributes to the technical growth of the department. Shares knowledge through design reviews, technical talks, documentation, and pairing on complex problems.
Qualifications
Years of Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of increasing scope and technical influence.
- Minimum of 2 years operating at a senior level with demonstrated cross-team architectural impact.
- Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale systems using modern frameworks and DevOps practices.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equal industry experience.
- Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Relevant technical certifications are highly desirable.
Industry
- Significant experience delivering high-quality digital products across web and mobile platforms.
- Experience in customer-facing industries (e-commerce, hospitality, entertainment, retail, or similar) strongly preferred.
Technical
- Languages & Frameworks: Deep proficiency across multiple technologies in the stack: C# (.NET / .NET Core), Node.js, Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, Java, React Native, Next.js, and/or Python. Ability to work effectively across the full stack.
- Architecture & Systems Design: Extensive experience designing scalable, resilient distributed systems including microservices, event-driven architectures, real-time data processing, and API design (REST, GraphQL). Ability to evaluate and drive architectural decisions at the department level.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Quality & Observability: Strong experience with comprehensive testing strategies, static analysis (SonarQube), API testing (Postman), and enterprise monitoring/observability platforms (Dynatrace or similar).
- Security & Compliance: Solid understanding of application security, data privacy, and compliance standards (PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.).
- AI & Tooling: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and emerging engineering productivity technologies including Python-based tooling (FastMCP or similar).
Business and Product Skills
- Ability to translate strategic business objectives into multi-quarter technical roadmaps.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to executive leadership.
