This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop robust new infrastructure that exceeds current capabilities. The IO section is a dynamic team of roughly 20 professionals, including economists, research assistants, data engineers, and analysts who publish the G.17 release, produce industrial sector forecasts, pioneer novel data source applications, and conduct mission-relevant research on economic measurement, productivity, trade, and business dynamics.

The ideal candidate will embrace emerging technologies—including AI and coding assistants—while prioritizing system robustness and reliability.

Beyond technical development, the role includes managing organizational tasks such as coordinating with Board IT and the Public Information Office on file transfers and validation. The successful contractor will demonstrate strong coding interest, exceptional work ethic, collaborative spirit, and unwavering reliability, mirroring the G.17 release's consistent monthly delivery. Experience

• Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time and improving current techniques.

• Supervises software configuration management.

• Analyzes functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities, with experience developing block diagrams and logic flow charts.

• Translates detailed design into computer software.

• Tests, debugs and refines the computer software to produce the required product. Prepares required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.

• Experience in analysis and design of systems.

• Knowledge of a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
