Position Overview
As a Senior Quality Manager in Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS), you will take the leadership role in managing a team of SQS Inspectors across multiple markets, districts and projects with minimal corporate supervision. Responsible for recruiting and developing SQS Inspectors to be proficient in evaluating fabrication procedures and product against contract specifications, Codes, standards, datasheets. Responsible for self-performing inspections as needed. Work with Project SQS Managers to assign and schedule SQS Inspectors to support the project supplier quality surveillance plan. Work with third party inspection agencies to supplement inspection demand.

Kiewit Supply Network specializes in providing comprehensive procurement services to clients across the construction and engineering industries in multiple markets, including transportation; water/wastewater; power; oil, gas and chemical; building and mining. Our key objectives are to offer clients a world-class service that ensures equipment, materials and services are consistently estimated and procured at the right price and delivered on schedule.
Location
This position will be based out of Lenexa, KS OR Houston, TX offices.
Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain effective communications and relations with district management, project management teams, authorized inspectors and engineer or client as required.
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor and supervise district and project quality control personnel (including quality inspectors, and quality managers)
  • Coordinate quality control staffing needs on projects and assign qualified personnel. Work with other districts as needed to share resources.
  • Assist project teams in setting up the quality department and preparing for project kick-off and pre-job planning meetings. Assist in identifying the proper Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's), checklists, and other documentation for the project.
  • Create project-specific checklists for inspectors' use during source inspections and witness tests.
  • Support, and when needed, lead the disposition of shop findings by working with supplier and project team.
  • Oversee code compliance for work which falls under the ASME Quality Control Manual.
  • Research and answer technical questions; assist in the interpretation of construction codes and standards.
  • Ensure that all project Quality Records (including ASME paperwork) is completed and submitted properly.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, Civil Engineering or Construction Management/Engineering (preferred)
  • At least Ten (10) years' experience developing and implementing construction and/or procurement quality management programs in Infrastructure, EPC, OGC, or Power industry
  • Experience and knowledge of ASME Codes and API, NACE and ASTM Standards
  • Certifications from AWS, CWB, API, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, etc. (highly preferred)
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes of power, industrial and oil and gas equipment (e.g., valves, ACHEs, pumps, compressors, structural steel, pipe fabrication)
  • Experience in reviewing supplier quality documents including inspection and test plan, welding procedure specifications, coating procedures, NDE procedures, data books
  • Ability to travel up to 90% domestically and internationally to perform inspections, witness tests, expedite and audit suppliers
  • Exceptional math, computer, verbal and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
