Job description

Summary
The Quality Inspector performs inspections at all stages of production to ensure raw materials, components, welds, coatings, heat-treated parts, tooling, and finished assemblies meet company and customer quality standards. This position uses precision measuring instruments, conducts nondestructive testing (NDT), prepares inspection reports, and maintains accurate quality records.
Responsibilities
  • Perform visual inspection and certification of welds in accordance with API 8C.
  • Inspect raw materials, forgings, fabricated and machined parts, supplier components, subassemblies, tooling, coatings, and finished assemblies.
  • Conduct receiving, first-run, random, in-process, and final inspections according to prescribed tolerances.
  • Perform magnetic particle, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic inspections.
  • Verify Brinell hardness and inspect paint-line and galvanizing processes.
  • Conduct machine-shop and receiving-dock inspections.
  • Approve acceptable items for production runs or shipment.
  • Identify rejected materials or components and consult with Quality Assurance leadership regarding rework or corrective action.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, scales, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Safely operate jib cranes, overhead hoists, magnetic particle equipment, and ultrasonic testing equipment.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain required records.
  • Conduct inspections at supplier or vendor locations when assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI) certification required.
  • Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) required.
  • Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing, and machine-shop inspection or measurement.
  • Experience inspecting and certifying welds.
  • Ability to operate jib cranes and overhead hoists while safely handling large parts.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or technical school training preferred.

Additional Information
  • Daily exposure to manufacturing shop conditions that may be dirty, noisy, dusty, or confined.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Requires extensive standing and walking.
  • May involve exposure to fumes, vapors, and solutions controlled according to OSHA standards.
