Job Title: IT Engineer I

Reports To: Sr. Director, IT Infrastructure & Security 

Salary: 

Purpose of Position The Sr. Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for leading the end-to-end secure operations of core compute systems infrastructure both on-prem and cloud including high availability, replication, DR preparation and testing. This role ensures close integration with other business applications to maintain a highly integrated and available platform for mission critical logistics operations. Lead the development of standards and partner with other team members to support the IT mission.

Position Competency 

     Required

8+ years in enterprise infrastructure engineering, with 4+ years of hands-on Nutanix administration (AHV, Prism, AOS lifecycle) at production scale.

Demonstrated   ability to work autonomously - setting technical direction, prioritizing initiatives, and guiding architecture decisions.

Track record of leading disaster recovery programs, including designing test   strategy and owning results and remediation.

Experience   in cloud infrastructure platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar); integration with and migration to platform-agnostic infrastructure preferred

Strong   documentation discipline - able to convert tribal knowledge and undocumented systems into clear runbooks and standards.

Strong   hands-on expertise with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP,   and enterprise networking (firewalls, VPN, VLANs).

Proficiency   in SQL Server environments and Windows Failover Clustering support.

Scripting   ability in PowerShell and/or Python for infrastructure automation and   reporting.

Experience   mentoring engineers or informally leading technical initiatives without   formal management authority.

Experience   administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) and cloud identity   synchronization.

Familiarity   with endpoint and security concepts and tools (such as XDR, SASE, DLP) and security   patch management.

Ability to participate in after-hours maintenance windows and incident response on a rotating basis. 

   Preferred

Prior experience leading or contributing to an on-prem-to-cloud infrastructure   migration.

Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or higher; cloud certifications (AZ-104/AZ-800,   AWS SysOps/Solutions Architect) a plus.

Knowledge with Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops and/or Parallels RAS, especially   platform migrations.

Experience with NAS, Wasabi or other S3-compatible cloud storage, and ShareFile administration.

Exposure to warehouse automation, AWS, or WMS environments in a 3PL or logistics setting.


Position Expectations

Role   Evolution 

Ramp-up   and assume ownership of the virtualization environment.

Stabilize   and modernize cluster architecture, DR posture, and operational standards;   document runbooks, configurations, & design decisions.

Build   familiarity with cloud platforms for future cloud adoption and   hybrid-integration

Lead   technical planning and execution of the organization's hybrid infrastructure   platform.

Leadership   Expectations 

Acts   as primary technical infrastructure architect, operating independently with   high-level direction.

Serve   as escalation point for complex issues & major incidents; lead RCA &   remediation.

Mentor   other engineers & represent infrastructure in vendor negotiations &   cross-functional planning. 

Key   Responsibilities 

Virtualization   Infrastructure

Own  end-to-end architecture, administration, and roadmap for compute infrastructure.

Set standards for cluster health, host/VM performance, storage utilization, and resource allocation; drive continuous optimization.

Lead lifecycle management including firmware, AOS, and hypervisor upgrades; independently troubleshoot complex hardware and virtualization issues.

Documentation   & Operational Support

Maintain infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and network/DR diagrams; participate in change management and capacity planning.

Participate in after-hours maintenance and incident response as required.

Disaster   Recovery, Replication & Backup

Own DR architecture, including Replication, Protection Policies, and Recovery Plans; define validation cadence and lead monthly Recovery Plan validation.

Design   and lead quarterly disaster recovery testing; report results and risk posture   to leadership.

Author and maintain disaster recovery documentation, runbooks, and recovery procedures as the DR program owner. 

Server   Infrastructure

Administer physical and virtual Windows/Linux servers; monitor health, performance, and capacity; troubleshoot OS, application, hardware, and storage issues.

Manage provisioning, decommissioning, migrations, upgrades, and clustered/HA environments; maintain configuration standards.

Active   Directory, DNS & DHCP

Administer Active Directory across four Domain Controllers, Group Policy, and account/OU administration; monitor AD replication.

Administer   DNS/DHCP, Certificate Services, authentication troubleshooting, and identity   sync with cloud services.

Domain Registration & External DNS

Administer domain registration and external DNS, including renewals, & SSL/DNS   verification.

Automation  & Infrastructure Development

Develop PowerShell/Python solutions for infrastructure automation, API integrations,   monitoring, reporting, and asset inventory sync.

Experience w/ Ansible and Terraform for automated deployments

SQL   Server & Data Systems

Support SQL Server cluster health and performance; support Windows Failover   Clustering, backup validation, restore testing, and replication monitoring.

Productivity   Suites & Business Applications

Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, and Power Automate; manage licensing and provisioning.

Identity   & Access Management

Support the full identity lifecycle: provisioning/deprovisioning, AD/M365 administration, security groups, and periodic access reviews.

File   Services & Cloud Storage

Administer three on-prem and cloud-based File Servers, cloud replication, secure file exchange with partners including permissions, security, and auditing.

Work   Environment

On-site/hybrid role based in Carlisle, PA, with occasional travel to other facilities as   needed. 

Ability to support after-hours and weekend work required for maintenance windows, upgrades, and incident response
