Job description

About Trivelta

Operators deserve more from their technology. More speed, more intelligence, and more control.
Trivelta is on a mission to provide the AI-native software infrastructure powering the next generation of sportsbook and gaming companies. Our platform combines true native apps on both the App Store and Google Play, AI-powered personalization and risk management, and built-in social features that help operators create world-class product experiences.
Today, Trivelta powers operators serving millions of users across global markets.
As we continue our rapid growth, two things are essential to our success: our people and our culture.
So far, we have built a global team working from our offices in Boston, Barcelona, Monterrey, and Indore, as well as remotely around the world, to help us achieve our mission. And we're looking for more exceptional people. People who love building great products, redefining what is possible with AI, and turning complexity into elegant, scalable solutions.

The Role

As a Lead Backend Software Engineer you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the platform's core infrastructure. As a technical leader, this individual will be responsible for driving innovation, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, security, compliance, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect & Develop Backend Systems - Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend solutions, ensuring robust APIs for mobile, web, and third-party integrations.
  • Ensure Performance, Security & Compliance - Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability; implement security best practices; ensure compliance with AML, KYC, data privacy, and state-by-state sweepstakes regulations.
  • Manage Data Infrastructure - Build and maintain data pipelines to support analytics, fraud detection, geolocation controls, and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead & Mentor - Provide technical leadership, guide engineers in best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Drive Technical Strategy - Lead architectural discussions, evaluate emerging technologies in gaming/fintech/AI fraud detection, and align solutions with long-term company goals.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally - Partner with product, finance, compliance, and support teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure Operational Resilience - Lead incident response for outages or security events, implement proactive monitoring/alerting systems, and conduct root cause analysis for long-term fixes.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and scaling high-performance backend systems.
  • Expert hands-on expertise in Python for backend development, automation, and data processing.
  • Skilled in API development, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
  • Deep understanding of system performance tuning, security protocols, and regulatory compliance (AML, KYC, data privacy).
  • Experience with data pipeline design, analytics integration, and geolocation-based access controls.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and making strategic architectural decisions.
  • Excellent collaboration skills across product, finance, compliance, and support functions.
  • Hands-on experience with incident management, monitoring systems, and root cause analysis.
 Requirements
  • Ownership mindset - You take full responsibility for your systems and decisions, proactively identifying problems before they escalate.
  • Clear communicator - You can translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders across product, compliance, and business teams.
  • Resilience under pressure - You stay calm and focused during incidents, leading your team through ambiguity without losing sight of priorities.
  • Team multiplier - You genuinely invest in the growth of the engineers around you, making the whole team stronger over time.
  • Adaptability - You thrive in fast-moving environments where requirements change and you embrace new challenges as opportunities.
