Senior Python Full Stack Developer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior Python full stack developer?

To thrive as a Senior Python Full Stack Developer, you need advanced proficiency in Python, JavaScript frameworks (such as React or Angular), database management, and a solid understanding of both front-end and back-end development principles, often backed by a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with tools like Django or Flask, RESTful APIs, version control systems (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the ability to mentor junior developers are standout soft skills for this role. These skills ensure robust, scalable applications and foster effective collaboration across technical teams, driving project success.

What is the difference between Senior Python Full Stack Developer vs Backend Developer?

AspectSenior Python Full Stack DeveloperBackend Developer
Required SkillsProficiency in Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, frameworks like Django/Flask, React or AngularStrong Python skills, experience with server-side development, databases, APIs
Work EnvironmentFull-stack development across front-end and back-end, often in agile teamsPrimarily server-side, database, and API development
Industry UsageTech companies, startups, enterprises needing full-stack solutionsWeb services, SaaS, enterprise applications

The main difference is that a Senior Python Full Stack Developer handles both front-end and back-end development, requiring skills in multiple technologies, while a Backend Developer focuses mainly on server-side logic, databases, and APIs. The full-stack role demands broader expertise, whereas backend roles are more specialized in server-side development.

What is a senior Python full stack developer?

Senior Python Full Stack Developers are experienced software engineers who specialize in both frontend and backend web development using Python and related technologies. They are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining complex web applications, often leading teams and making architectural decisions. Their expertise typically includes frameworks like Django or Flask for backend development, as well as JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular for the frontend. In addition to coding, they often mentor junior developers and ensure best practices in software development. Their role requires a deep understanding of databases, APIs, deployment processes, and modern development workflows.

What are some common challenges faced by senior Python full stack developers when working on cross-functional teams?

Senior Python Full Stack Developers often collaborate with designers, product managers, and DevOps specialists, which can present challenges in aligning technical solutions with business goals and user experience expectations. Balancing backend performance with frontend responsiveness and maintaining clear communication across disciplines are key hurdles. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving frameworks and ensuring code quality and scalability across the stack requires continual learning and adaptability. Successful developers proactively bridge these gaps by fostering open dialogue and advocating for best practices throughout the development process.

Want to be part of a diverse team where your work makes a real impact? If you're inspired by innovation that advances how people connect and transforms what's possible, you belong on #TeamBell.

On the Bell Business Markets team, you'll be a vital part of making innovation happen for enterprise-scale customers. You'll deliver advanced solutions in areas such as IoT, Mobility/5G, Cloud, Cyber Security, Voice, Collaboration & Contact Centre and Internet & Private Networks.

At Bell, your skills and expertise will help set us apart as we continue to be the leading provider of digital connections and next generation services to businesses and governments.

Summary

Bell's AI Fabric initiative is pioneering a secure, sovereign AI compute network across Canada. This ambitious portfolio features seven large-scale, high-density data centers, anchored by a 500 MW B.C supercluster and a 300 MW flagship site in Regina, Saskatchewan.

As MEP / CX Site Director, you will be the senior on-site authority accountable for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and the full commissioning (Cx) lifecycle of an assigned data centre. You'll own the journey from MEP installation through integrated systems testing to a fully validated, operational-ready handover-ensuring power, cooling, and resiliency systems perform to mission-critical standards before the facility goes live.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the senior on-site leader accountable for MEP delivery and commissioning outcomes across the full lifecycle of an assigned data centre.
  • Own the site commissioning (Cx) program end-to-end-factory acceptance (FAT), site acceptance (SAT), integrated systems testing (IST), and level 1-5 commissioning through to handover.
  • Oversee installation and quality of all MEP systems-power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, chilled water, and high-density/liquid cooling.
  • Manage MEP contractors, commissioning agents (CxA), and vendors, holding them accountable to scope, quality, safety, and milestone commitments.
  • Own MEP/Cx schedule integrity and integration into the master construction sequence, driving predictable, on-time systems turnover.
  • Validate power, cooling, and resiliency/redundancy performance to mission-critical standards ahead of operational handover.
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture across MEP installation and energized commissioning activities, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure design intent is executed correctly, coordinating LOD design classification and A/E-to-GC detailed engineering handoffs.
  • Partner cross-functionally with site construction, engineering, program controls, and operations to align MEP/Cx with capacity plans and readiness milestones.
  • Lead change governance, risk management, and issue resolution across MEP/Cx scope, escalating proactively to Capital Programs leadership.
Critical Qualifications
  • 12+ years leading MEP delivery and/or commissioning on large-scale construction programs, with direct hyperscale or mission-critical data centre experience (100MW+ preferred).
  • Proven track record owning the full commissioning lifecycle (FAT, SAT, IST, Levels 1-5) through to operational handover.
  • Deep technical expertise in data centre M&E systems-power distribution, UPS, generators, chilled water, and high-density/liquid cooling.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, LOD design classification, and A/E-to-GC engineering handoffs.
  • Experience managing MEP contractors, commissioning agents, and specialized vendors on active sites.
  • Command of schedule management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and MEP/Cx sequencing integration.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership on active, energized MEP and commissioning environments.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and influence senior engineering, contractor, and executive stakeholders.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline; P.Eng., PMP, or commissioning certification (e.g., ACG/CxA, BCxP) strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to be on-site and travel between Canadian build locations as the portfolio scales.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
