Job description

Senior Software Engineer โ€“ Satellite Ground Systems About the Role
A defense technology organization supporting national security space missions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help architect and build next-generation satellite ground systems. This team is building the next generation of space systems, supporting mission-critical command, control, and scheduling capabilities for satellite operations. Day-to-Day, You Would Be:
Designing and building software for satellite ground systems, working across the full architecture from planning and scheduling logic to the services that support real-time mission operations
Writing object-oriented Java code, including multi-threaded applications, to support high-reliability defense systems
Building and deploying microservices in cloud environments (AWS), working with containerization and orchestration tools
Collaborating with systems engineers and customers to translate mission requirements into technical designs and evolving architecture
Working within Agile/DevSecOps teams, participating in the full software lifecycle: design, development, test, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
Contributing technical expertise to proposals and bids for future development work
Using CI/CD pipelines and modern automated testing practices to ship reliable, secure code Skills You'd Use:
Java (including multi-threading), cloud-native microservices development, AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, Agile/SAFe methodologies, DevSecOps practices, and planning/scheduling software design. Familiarity with C++, Python, and tools like Jira, Jenkins, Confluence, JUnit, Kafka, and Spring Boot is a plus.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 10 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination)
Experience designing and developing object-oriented software in Java
Experience with Java multi-threading
Experience with microservices in cloud environments
Experience developing planning/scheduling software or comparable systems
Active TS/SCI clearance (or active TS clearance transferable to TS/SCI); U.S. citizenship required Preferred Qualifications Experience with satellite planning/scheduling software specifically
SAFe Agile software development lifecycle experience
C++ and Python development experience
AWS microservices experience using Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with test automation, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with Confluence, Eclipse, Jira, Jenkins, JUnit, Kafka, and Spring Boot
