Introduction to the Job

At ASML, you will work at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, helping to solve some of the most advanced system and performance challenges in the industry. Our Applications Engineering teams create value by enabling customers to successfully adopt ASML solutions through deep technical expertise and close collaboration.

As a Senior Applications Pathfinding Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping next‑generation customer solutions. This is a highly visible, customer‑facing technical role focused on system‑level pathfinding, node definition, and integrated solution development.

You will operate at the intersection of customer requirements, product capabilities, and technology roadmap decisions, helping define and validate the right solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

This role combines system engineering, pathfinding, and applications expertise to guide solution direction, support new technology initiatives, and deliver measurable impact for customers.

Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead customer‑facing pathfinding and system engineering efforts to translate future technology needs into scalable solutions
  • Define and represent the customer Concept of Operation, ensuring alignment with real‑world use cases and constraints
  • Act as a key technical interface between customers and internal teams across system engineering, product development, and business lines
  • Drive alignment and progress in new technology pathfinding (NTP) and other strategic programs
  • Collaborate with Technology Development (TD) teams within the customer’s global development model and support cross‑site projects and initiatives
  • Identify solution gaps, risks, and required functionality to meet customer performance and integration targets
  • Ensure solutions align with ASML’s product portfolio architecture and long‑term roadmap
  • Support customer roadmap alignment by bringing structure and clarity to pathfinding discussions and technical planning
  • Lead or support node introduction, transition, and ramp activities
  • Design and execute experiments to validate performance and demonstrate solution value
  • Analyze data and translate findings into clear technical insights and recommendations
  • Drive resolution of complex system, lithography, or metrology challenges
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers and internal stakeholders to support decision‑making and solution adoption
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in a similar technical role
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing
  • Experience in system engineering, applications, pathfinding, product development, or customer‑facing technical roles
  • Strong analytical background with experience using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or JMP
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and communicate results clearly
  • Experience working across teams and influencing technical direction in a matrixed environment
  • Experience with EUV, DUV, metrology, or system integration is strongly preferred
