You will provide clear direction, effective delegation, and ongoing coaching to buyers and senior buyers, ensuring workload is balanced and aligned with priorities. A key part of this role is developing the capabilities of the purchasing team through performance management, mentoring, and skill development, building bench strength and supporting long-term organizational growth.

You will play a key leadership role in supplier negotiations, RFIs/RFQs, supplier performance management, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.

  • Manage and develop a team of buyers and senior buyers across multiple locations in the U.S. and Mexico

  • Develop and implement purchasing and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and cost targets

  • Lead RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and sourcing events for existing and new products or suppliers

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and long-term agreements with domestic and international suppliers

  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships and strategic partnerships

  • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviews

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Product Development, Finance, and Compliance to support manufacturing requirements and new product introductions

  • Identify cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and continuous improvement efforts

  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality, delivery, sustainability, ethical sourcing, and regulatory requirements

  • Manage supplier onboarding and qualification processes

  • Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and global supply risks to proactively mitigate disruptions

  • Support inventory optimization and working capital objectives in partnership with planning and operations teams

  • Resolve escalated supplier issues related to quality, delivery, or performance

  • Maintain accurate purchasing documentation, contracts, and supplier records

  • Drive standardization and process improvements across purchasing activities

  • Leverage ERP systems and sourcing tools to improve visibility, reporting, and efficiency

  • Prepare and present purchasing metrics, savings reporting, and performance updates to leadership

  • Support trade compliance and international sourcing considerations

  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the purchasing team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment

  • Proven experience managing multi-site and cross-border purchasing teams

  • Strong background in global sourcing and supplier negotiations

  • Experience purchasing direct materials, components, and finished goods/assemblies
