Job Summary:
The position focuses on paint booth modifications and construction activities within a manufacturing environment. The Project Engineer will execute and manage paint booth modification projects, including structural improvements, airflow enhancements, contractor coordination, and project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
• Investigate project feasibility, scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Create project scopes of work, bid packages, and technical specifications.
• Execute and manage paint booth modification projects, including structural and airflow improvements.
• Review technical drawings, provide feedback, and negotiate design changes.
• Evaluate safety compliance with local and national regulations.
• Collaborate with third-party safety compliance contractors.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to design, install, and commission equipment.
• Supervise contractors in greenfield and brownfield environments.
• Coordinate installations with skilled trades, affiliate companies, engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
• Develop countermeasures to address project delays and ensure timely completion.
• Work with sheet metal structures and large components inside paint booth environments.
Required Qualifications:
• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline), Technical Trade Certification, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of project management experience.
• Experience managing projects valued at $500K or more.
• Commercial construction experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• AutoCAD drawing review and modification experience.
• Experience developing bid specifications and contractor negotiations.
• 2+ years of technical drawing review experience.
• Hands-on engineering background combined with trade experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• Toyota project management experience.
• Automotive paint process experience.
• Trade experience, especially sheet metal.
• Experience working in controlled environments such as paint booths or clean manufacturing spaces.
• Familiarity with airflow systems and environmental controls.
