Job Description:

L3Harris' Spectrum Superiority segment is seeking a Project Engineer responsible for the day-to-day tactical duties for assigned programs. Project Engineering will oversees and coordinate the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as single point-of-contact between engineering project management and planning, engineering project team, and line management
  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports
  • Assesses engineering project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring engineering project progress and for intervention and problem solving with engineering project managers, line managers, and customers
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received
  • May conduct performance/project analyses during phase-down to benefit future/other engineering projects, missions, and programs
  • Lead design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.)
  • Availability to travel 10-20% of the time to customer and subcontractor sites in support of technical meetings and verification activities

Qualifications:

  • An ABET (EAC/CAC) accredited Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience
  • Currently hold a DoD security clearance
  • Experience with NSA and NSA certification, TEMPEST certification process, understanding red/black separation design
  • Knowledge and experience using AI tools for staffing, forecasting and other related technical tasks
  • Comprehensive level knowledge of job area. May have in-depth knowledge of project management
  • Implements strategic goals established by leadership on assigned projects
  • Establishes operational plans for job area with short-term impact on results
  • Expert in Earned Value Management and cost/schedule estimation
  • Experience coordinating across multiple engineering functions
  • Experience communicating directly with customer and in front of non-technical audience
  • Experience in system level development, requirements definition, analysis, and risk mitigation for Communications, Open Systems Architecture, Satellite Communications, and/or Electronic Presentation and communication skills
  • Space Communications Design, Architecture Experience
  • Space Parts, Materials and Process Background
  • Free Space Optics Experience
