POSITION: Senior Project Engineer

REPORTS TO: Project Engineering Manager

OBJECTIVE: Be a valuable member of Verrex and its Engineering Services Department in the overall Implementation of Verrex’s Mission, Vision and Strategy, enabling Verrex to continue to grow and expand its business.

COMPENSATION: Salary, exempt (non-hourly), monthly cell phone stipend.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work as the sole Engineer projects in maintaining and executing major project milestones, including:
  • Review materials provided by Sales, including proposal, system description, BOM (bill of material), and other documentation
  • Prepare sketches for the creation of facility and electrical drawing packages and wiring drawings.
  1. The CAD department primarily works on drawings, but the engineer is required to have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and is expected to create and edit drawings.
  • Confirm final selection of equipment based on information provided by sales, client, and/or consultant to ensure expected system functionality
  • Generate the job control for Purchasing based on the confirmed and agreed upon BOM
  • Determination of bulk cable and connectors, and creation of cable pull schedule
  • Creation of audio DSP files (Biamp, Q-SYS, and others)
  • Creation of Theory of Operation document to define specific system functionality
  • Coordinate system functionality with the Programming team
  • Shop QA review of systems
  • Onsite system testing and commissioning
  • Review markups of drawings and work with CAD to create as-built drawing sets
  1. Attend kick-off meetings and site coordination meetings both online and onsite
  2. Adhere to project schedules created by Project Managers
  3. Work closely with and provide support to other members of the internal project team (sales, other engineers, project managers, fabricators, QA, field technicians, programmers, and purchasing)
  4. Coordination with architects, general contractors, and electrical contractors to preemptively avoid issues, ensuring site infrastructure and furniture will accommodate AV systems
General Responsibilities:
  • Be a technical resource for other departments as required
  • Be a mentor for Project Engineers
  • Help drive the evolution of processes within the Engineering Department
  • Be an engineering representative in reviewing Verrex processes with other departments
  • Leverage field commissioning as a training opportunity for others internal to the company
  • Be a liaison to the Design Engineers, providing feedback both positive and negative to help improve the Sales design process
  • Conduct equipment research and testing on new and existing technology
  • Proactively seek and review new industry products, providing written feedback and recommendations
  • Interface with manufacturers when dealing with equipment problems
  • Conduct site surveys
  • Attend weekly resource meetings and monthly department meetings
  • Attend manufacturer and industry training in-house, off premises, and online
  • Provide peer review of drawings
