JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

This role collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and maintain engineering design standards for new generation plants (gas). The Project Engineer ensures engineering products are complete, accurate, and constructible for all elements of a project’s scope. The position promotes a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, best-practice implementation, and lessons-learned application.

Because this role directly supports the development of new power generation assets, demonstrated and relevant experience in power-generation — such as development, engineering, design, construction, or operations is essential and will be considered a minimum requirement for selection.

The Project Engineer works closely with multiple Project Managers as a technical resource during the development phase and coordinates with cross-functional teams while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Participates in state regulatory commission approval activities by providing technical support for submittal development and interfaces with regulators as needed.
  • Identifies engineered safety controls and hazard removal during engineering design.
  • Supports/leads cross-functional teams consisting of internal SMEs, Owners Engineers, EPC contractors, and technical consultants during EPC contract development.
  • Ensures engineering documentation is adequately captured to support audit and prudency review.
  • Supports/leads writing Record of Decision documents to present the basis of major project decisions, including evaluation of alternatives, stakeholder concurrence, barrier resolution, and timely risk/issue mitigation.
  • Acts as Contract Manager for engineering contracts outside the EPC scope.
  • Performs/manages engineering design reviews to ensure compliance with permits, codes, and utility standards while supporting strategic, operational, and maintenance goals of the project.
  • Coordinates with Project Managers to follow the Project Delivery System and ensure requirements and deliverables are met.
  • Participates in contractor/vendor selection with a focus on assessing engineering experience, competencies, and capability.
  • Supports/leads technical open-book engineering processes during development with contractors and applies value-engineering concepts to ensure competitive project outcomes.
  • Supports/leads/follows change-management processes.
