Responsibilities

The Environmental Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of environmental consulting projects from proposal development through project closeout and collection. This role provides technical leadership, project oversight, client management, staff development, and financial accountability across multiple projects. The Environmental Senior Project Manager serves as the primary client contact on assigned projects, mentors technical staff, and ensures projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in accordance with company standards while demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities
  • Leads and mentors junior staff and supports professional development across the team
  • Manages environmental consulting projects from proposal through project closeout
  • Serves as the primary client contact for assigned projects
  • Maintains and expands client relationships and business opportunities
  • Manages project budgets, profitability, invoicing, and collections
  • Reviews and approves project change orders and budgeting adjustments
  • Schedules, trains, and oversees technical staff assigned to projects
  • Coordinates project staffing and resource allocation
  • Oversees multiple projects simultaneously and ensures successful project execution
  • Reviews and approves proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates
  • Prepares and reviews environmental reports, analyses, and recommendations
  • Conducts senior-level reviews of project deliverables before Principal review
  • Leads client meetings and project discussions
  • Supports staffing decisions in collaboration with department leadership
  • Provides guidance on technical, operational, and project management issues
  • Performs additional project leadership and technical duties as assigned
  • Directs project planning, staffing, and implementation activities
  • Oversees complex environmental investigations
  • Reviews field reports and technical documentation
  • Develops site work plans and investigation strategies
  • Manages remediation design, installation, operation, and maintenance activities
  • Oversees underground storage tank assessment projects
  • Leads client meetings and communicates project milestones and significant findings
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting
  • Must have the ability to obtain a local license through reciprocity within three months of hire date
  • Additional licensure or certifications may be required depending on the type of work performed
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental principles, regulations, and consulting practices
  • Extensive knowledge of permitting requirements and environmental investigation methodologies
  • Excellent project management and consulting skills
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to review and evaluate technical work produced by others
