Job Summary:

The Senior Project Manager leads the planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of complex mechanical construction projects. This role provides senior operational leadership across multiple projects, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, scheduling, manpower utilization, and client satisfaction. The Senior PM also mentors project teams and supports the longโ€‘term growth of the mechanical construction division.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership

  • Lead largeโ€‘scale mechanical construction projects from preโ€‘construction to turnover.
  • Oversee procurement, scheduling, construction execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, and company standards.
  • Coordinate with field leadership on manpower planning and construction sequencing.

Financial Management

  • Full responsibility for project budgets, forecasting, labour productivity, cash flow, and profitability.
  • Review cost reports, identify risks/opportunities, and manage change orders.
  • Support estimating and project transition activities.

Client & Stakeholder Relations

  • Build strong relationships with owners, consultants, GCs, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Represent Ainsworth in project meetings and resolve issues proactively.
  • Support business development and preโ€‘construction planning.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor Project Managers, Coordinators, and junior operations staff.
  • Promote accountability, professionalism, and operational consistency.
  • Support onboarding, training, and performance development.

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Monitor schedules and progress; coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Support manpower planning, procurement, and longโ€‘lead equipment coordination.
  • Identify schedule risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Safety, QA/QC & Commissioning

  • Ensure compliance with OH&S, site safety programs, and company policies.
  • Support QA/QC processes, commissioning, and turnover requirements.
  • Manage and resolve deficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • 8โ€“15 years of mechanical construction project management experience.
  • PMP, engineering, construction management, or journeyman trade certification considered assets.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, controls coordination, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple large projects and teams.
  • Strong financial, contractual, scheduling, and project controls expertise.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and ERP systems.
  • Valid Driver's License
