Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Total Vehicle Evaluation, Human Factors Sr. Engineer at our Irvine, California facility.

  • The Human Factors Engineer role will evaluate development vehicles for Human Factors and Ergonomic issues, will perform competitive benchmarking activities, and will evaluate design concepts within a CAD environment.
  • The Total Vehicle Evaluation (TVE) Team is involved throughout the vehicle development process to ensure the competitiveness of Hyundai Motor Group products in North America.
  • TVE works closely with all other development teams in order to manage and facilitate testing that needs to occur at various stages of vehicle development.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Evaluate Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis development vehicles for Human Factors issues related to vehicle controls, displays, seats, visibility, usability, and interior packaging.
  • Perform competitive benchmarking activities for upcoming vehicle development projects, specifically focused on Human Factors and Ergonomics evaluations.
  • Evaluate vehicle design concepts for human factors issues using CATIA/CAD programs.
  • Track issues throughout the development process for prototype and pilot vehicle projects.
  • Plan and execute outsourced research clinics, typically related to usability or seat comfort. Prepare test plan, submit requests for quotes, supervise clinic day-to-day activities, conduct daily summary meetings, and prepare technical report.
  • Provide Human Factors knowledge and support for Ride and Drive evaluations, Engineering Clinics, and Seat Clinics for other groups and engineers.
  • Analyze customer feedback survey results (JD Power IQS/VDS/APEAL, Consumer Reports, Enprecis, etc.) and conduct customer preference studies.
  • Interface regularly with Hyundai and Kia affiliates in North America.
  • Support additional development activities at our Proving Ground in California City, CA.
  • Perform vehicle evaluations at Hyundai and Kia North American manufacturing plants.
  • Perform additional projects as needed.
  • Create and present clear & concise technical reports.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • 8+ or more years of relevant engineering experience in the automotive industry, with Human Factors emphasis
  • Thorough knowledge of human factors and ergonomics concepts
  • Capable user of CAD/CATIA programs
  • Familiarity with SAE J826 manikin measurements
  • A general understanding of vehicle dynamics, NVH, braking, and powertrain systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Good project management and technical writing skills
  • Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record

Physical Demands, Work Environment, Travel Expectations:
