Job description

Overview

Sr Manager, Software Engineering Management at Cox Automotive responsible for leading multiple engineering development teams across application and data disciplines, delivering customerโ€‘facing SaaS products and analytics. Hybrid work option; ability to work remotely part of the week.

Compensation

Base salary $148,500.00 โ€“ $247,500.00, plus incentive program potential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering development teams, manage managers and senior engineers.
  • Plan shortโ€‘term and longโ€‘term initiatives, including quarterly and annual team plans and largeโ€‘scale projects.
  • Mentor and develop teams, foster innovation and highโ€‘quality service.
  • Prioritize requirements, create roadmap, and make tradeโ€‘off decisions.
  • Define and track success metrics: delivery reliability, defect rates, customer adoption, operational health.
  • Contribute to staffing strategy and organizational design.
  • Engage with internal and external clients as technical advisor.
  • Manage budget, vendor expenses, and agreements; act as product evangelist.
  • Own engineering delivery in highโ€‘traffic Xtime product areas impacting pricing, parts, and integration.
  • Evaluate system impact and downstream dependencies across products and partner ecosystems.
  • Establish and mature data engineering function alongside application teams.
  • Design, build, deploy, and operate data solutions: realโ€‘time and batch pipelines, dimensional models, secure data access layers.
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Data, and external partners to balance delivery and foundational data platform needs.
  • Drive adoption of AIโ€‘assisted and specโ€‘driven development practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 8 years of experience, or equivalent combinations as described.
  • 4+ years production operations of cloudโ€‘native SaaS platforms on AWS (EKS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager) with Terraform/Terragrunt IaC.
  • 4+ years with Java/Spring Boot applications at scale and modern web frontโ€‘ends.
  • Experience with modern data warehouse and pipeline solutions (Snowflake or equivalent, CDC, ELT, dimensional modeling).
  • Experience managing multiโ€‘tenant, multiโ€‘partner integrations and data isolation.
  • Strong observability and resiliency practices: APM, structured logging, onโ€‘call rotations, readiness reviews, SLOโ€‘based health management.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing teams in regulated, customerโ€‘facing SaaS environment with release cadence and escalation paths.
  • Experience building new functions, hiring plans, operating models, and success metrics.
  • Crossโ€‘functional partnership with Product, Architecture, DBA, QE, Data Governance, and external partners.
  • Experience with Agile Release Train: backlog planning, KTLO vs investment prioritization, delivery traceability.
  • Preferred: enterprise data catalog tools (Collibra), legacy reporting platform modernization, BI/analytics for dealer/OEM environments, AIโ€‘assisted engineering workflows.
