Job description

Telesat (Nasdaq and TSX: TSAT) is a leading global satellite operator, providing reliable and secure satellite-delivered communications solutions worldwide to broadcast, telecommunications, corporate and government customers for over 55 years.  Backed by a legacy of engineering excellence, reliability and industry-leading customer service, Telesat has grown to be one of the largest and most successful global satellite operators.

Telesat Lightspeed, our revolutionary Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, scheduled to begin service in 2027, will revolutionize global broadband connectivity for enterprise and Government users by delivering a combination of high capacity, security, resiliency and affordability with ultra-low latency and fiber-like speeds. Telesat is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and has offices and facilities around the world.
The company's state-of-the-art Satellite fleet consists of 12 GEO satellites, the Canadian payload on ViaSat-1 and one LEO 3 demonstration satellite.  For more information, follow Telesat on X and LinkedIn or visit www.telesat.com

The Senior Business Analyst will gather and manage requirements on the Telesat Business systems. The role will work collaboratively with business leaders, project managers, technical leads, vendor architects and subject matter experts to develop and manage the function and non-functional requirements for the various software systems across the corporation. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for working with stakeholders to elicit business and system requirements, and to develop a system specification that will meet the requirements. The Senior Business Analyst then works with the implementation teams to ensure that the system delivered conforms to the specifications and meets the requirements.
Main Responsibilities
  • Act as the Senior Business Analyst for the Revenue Management stream within Agile delivery teams, supporting the design, configuration and rollout of BSS capabilities across the Lead-to-Cash lifecycle (Salesforce, Netcracker, EDP/ODP and related platforms).
  • Elicit, analyze and manage end-to-end business and system requirements spanning product catalog and pricing, rating and charging, billing and invoicing, taxation, collections, dispute and adjustment handling, revenue assurance and revenue recognition.
  • Own requirements traceability for the quote-to-cash chain - ensuring quote, order, provisioning and usage events flow accurately through to invoice, general ledger and revenue recognition, with controls in place to prevent revenue leakage.
  • Partner with Finance, Commercial and vendor (Netcracker) teams to define monetization and billing requirements for LEO enterprise services across aviation, maritime, government and fixed use cases, including complex, multi-party and wholesale/partner settlement models.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria, and maintain full traceability using requirements management tooling (Jama, Jira, Confluence).
  • Document current- and future-state revenue business processes, working with business owners to confirm business requirements before functional design and securing business sign-off prior to build.
  • Groom and prioritize the backlog, clarify requirements for developers and testers, and validate that delivered functionality conforms to specification and meets the defined business outcomes.
  • Define and support user acceptance testing, test cases and defect triage for revenue functions, ensuring data integrity across billing, finance interfaces and reporting.
  • Lead requirement workshops and facilitate cross-functional stakeholder groups to reach consensus, balancing commercial, operational, finance and technical perspectives.
Education & Experience Required
  • 20+ years of experience leading or supporting revenue management, billing and finance transformation processes in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline; a professional accounting designation (CA/CPA) is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience supporting Telesat Lightspeed - or a comparable greenfield telecom/LEO business support systems (BSS) transformation - is highly desirable
  • Deep, hands-on experience across the Record-to-Report and Quote-to-Cash streams, including subledger-to-general-ledger integration, month-end close, billing, reconciliations, revenue assurance and revenue recognition
  • Experience with telecom billing and monetization platforms, ideally Netcracker; broader enterprise ERP experience (e.g., Oracle, Dynamics 365) is a transferable asset
  • Experience designing Quote-to-Order / Quote-to-Cash processes on Salesforce
  • Proven ability to author BRDs, user stories, process maps, test strategies and acceptance criteria, and to maintain requirements traceability using tooling such as Jama, Jira and Confluence
  • Experience delivering large-scale enterprise implementations using both Agile (SAFe) and Waterfall methodologies, including enterprise testing, data migration and change management
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence/MS Office tools
  • Experience working in cross-functional technical teams and leading global/multi-country implementations is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in dealing with clients, internal and external stakeholders, senior management and staff
  • Ability to effectively communicate to technical and non-technical individuals, including executive leadership
  • Experience with small, high-performing teams and building/mentoring analyst capabilities
  • A team player, collaborative and independently driven
  • Must demonstrate a flexible, open-minded attitude and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience effectively leading meetings and facilitating groups to reach consensus
  • Experience in the document management/contracting space is an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French an asset
Decision Making & Supervision
  • Work will be supervised at a high level by a business operations manager
  • The applicant must possess an ability to work well both individually, and in a team environment and have strong verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment
  • Possibility of occasional domestic and international travel
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain an Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
