  • Act as the technical authority for Mechanical Building Services systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, controls, and related systems.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Perform and review load calculations, including heat load calculations using HAP or similar software.
  • Guide and mentor intermediate and junior mechanical engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and consistency across projects.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve internal mechanical engineering standards, procedures, and quality control practices.
  • Review client specifications, shop drawings, and contractor submissions for compliance with design intent and codes.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, studies, and analyses to support design submissions and permit approvals.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and cross‑disciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high‑quality designs.
  • Interface directly with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, suppliers, and contractors as the mechanical discipline lead.
  • Support proposal development, fee estimates, and business development initiatives as required.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to provide construction support and resolve field‑related issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc. Eng., B.Eng.)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, low‑ and high‑rise buildings, and multi‑family residential projects.
  • P.Eng. designation with APEGA in good standing (required).
  • Proven experience in a senior or lead mechanical engineering role, including mentorship and technical oversight.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • Business development mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and strengthen client relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Who You Are

  • A confident technical leader who takes ownership and accountability for project outcomes.
  • A self‑starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and self‑schedule.
  • Comfortable making decisions, providing direction, and supporting team members without constant guidance.
  • Collaborative, reliable, and transparent in your communication style.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced environment and embraces challenges as opportunities to grow and improve.
  • Passionate about delivering high‑quality engineering solutions and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

What We Offer
