Finishing Supervisor

Finishing Supervisor Job Summary
The Finishing Supervisor oversees the entire coatings operation, consisting of three powder coating lines and three immersion paint lines. This role is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the finishing processes in a fast-paced production environment, and requires hands-on, shop-floor leadership of the Process Engineering team across all paint lines.
Essential Duties:
  • Identify and resolve paint quality issues and equipment interruptions
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of all consumable parts for all paint lines
  • Oversee effective scheduling of internal preventative maintenance, covering booths, collectors, hoppers, automatic and manual guns and controllers, washer stage cleaning, oven cleaning, pretreatment tank cleaning, immersion paint tank cleaning, and oil skimmer upkeep
  • Schedule and approve all external preventative maintenance related to coatings lines, including conveyor and system maintenance, tank/valve/exhaust/conveyor/general repairs, blowdown solenoids, washer and oven line repairs, the Bayco oven, and special cleaning projects (top of oven, powder booths, washer systems, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Production, Safety, Quality, and Maintenance teams to align goals
  • Maintain data collection and update reports for production and regulatory compliance (EPA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Conduct daily review of quality and production paperwork completed by the Process team, weekly environmental reporting, burn off report and chart review, and inventory list review, ensuring timely ordering of supplies
  • Manage inventory and ordering all consumable items, including powder coating booth supplies, liquid paint, powder paint, pretreatment chemicals, filters, and empty drums
  • Coordinate with external vendors to schedule pumping of pretreatment tanks and oil split-out drums, and to schedule disposal of coating booth cartridge filters and burn off process ash drums

We are looking for someone with:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 5+ years of experience in finishing processes, including powder or immersion paint; experience applying coatings to metal surfaces preferred
  • 3+ years of production supervisor experience
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience, steel or finishing industry preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of paint processes, viscosity, paint quality inspection, or powder coating equipment and systems preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks amid changing priorities
  • Detail-oriented and mechanically inclined, or willing to learn
  • Ability to work flexible shifts to meet production requirements
