Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliability, and efficient operation of equipment and facilities. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, supervises maintenance mechanics, supports production uptime, and ensures compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise maintenance department and attain department goals and standards; costs, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Perform frequent on-the-job inspections to ensure the following (but no limited to): safe working habits, safe work areas, quality of workmanship, effectiveness of maintenance and repairs.
  • Prepare work schedules and work order assignments as required to support the total maintenance program and the requirements of production.
  • Evaluate, prioritize and schedule maintenance repair requests to ensure timely completion of repair actions.
  • Develop on-the-job training programs for new personnel, evaluate and document training records, develop training requirements for new equipment and develop skill-level up-grading test.
  • Routinely inspect equipment for needed repairs and maintenance and repair requests.
  • Responsible for continuous training programs as directed by the Maintenance Manager, to increase effectiveness of maintenance staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year. Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.

Physical Requirements

Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor
  • Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.
  • Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of maintenance experience, of which at least 2 are in a production environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, varying shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-Verify.
  • Must be able to read and write English legibly.
  • Must be detail oriented and proficient in mathematics.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
  • Must be able to pass company Forklift assessments to obtain company issued Forklift license.
  • Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
