Job description

As required by New York State’s pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For New York State, the range of starting annual base pay for this role is $85,000 to $120,000.

Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide material science characterization expertise to the Bausch and Lomb Analytical Team.

The senior analytical chemist will utilize strong technical expertise and data driven conclusions to assist in research and development project objectives from idea conception through product commercialization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Apply polymer physics knowledge to guide analytical, research and developmental efforts in support of business needs.
  • Solve analytical challenges through internal method development activities and utilizing external technologies.
  • Create analytical techniques to model the clinical aspects of contact lens wear.
  • Generate, organize, interpret, and report data generated both in-house and externally to support technical projects and analytical service requests.
  • Maintain familiarity with current literature and advances in polymer physics.
  • Help develop technical capabilities to further the understanding of material formulation/process/property related dependencies.
  • Mentor and help to develop less experienced technical personnel.
  • Communicate, interact and support a broad range of stakeholders from R&D, business teams, and process chemistry through technical reports, in-person meetings, and presentations.
Job Qualifications
  • Education: M.S. in material science, polymer physics, or related discipline is required, Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in industry required with Ph.D. or minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in industry required with M.S. degree.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Extensive knowledge in rheology, tribology, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and thermal analysis (DSC, TGA).
