Job Description
The Kings County District Attorney's Office (KCDA) is one of the largest prosecutors' offices in the country and is committed to developing and implementing innovative prosecutorial strategies that will fulfill our vision of keeping Brooklyn safe while at the same time ensuring fairness and justice for all. KCDA has an exciting opportunity to work as an Intelligence Analyst in the Human Trafficking Unit.
The Human Trafficking Unit vigorously investigates and prosecutes those who, through such means as physical force, fraud, and/or psychological coercion, have forced individuals (often young girls and women) into sex trafficking and labor trafficking. The unit's staff also engages in community outreach by conducting training at community centers and for industry leaders to educate Brooklyn residents on the dangers of human trafficking and on how to identify warning signs that a person might be a trafficking victim.
Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the prospective candidate will be responsible for the following:
-Assist in short and long-term complex human trafficking related investigations
-Initiate human trafficking investigations by utilizing open-source intelligence, identify targets and potential and known victims of trafficking
-Conduct forensic previews and analysis on electronic devices
-Analyzing external and internal data sets including financial and telephone records for evidence of trafficking
-Produce juror-friendly presentations of analyzed evidence to be used at Grand Jury and trial and testify before the grand jury and at trial
-Generating subpoenas and other documents to request evidence
-Assist in trial and grand jury preparation by preparing and tracking evidence; evidence review, transcribing conversations, and organizing and managing large volume of subpoenaed materials from multiple sources
-Analyze video surveillance and create video compilations for use at trial
-Categorize open-source searches for use in prosecutions to maintain chain of custody
-Support grant efforts by collecting and analyzing case and investigation data
-Maintain discretion and integrity in handling sensitive matters and highly confidential investigations.
-Perform related intelligence-gathering function as needed.
Preferred Skills:
-Candidates must be adaptable and comfortable working with large amounts of data.
-Knowledge and awareness of human trafficking.
-Minimum of three years of related analytical experience in intelligence or research analysis.
-Previous working experience and knowledge in performing the following analysis will be considered a plus: hotspot analysis, social network analysis, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, descriptive statistics, inferential analysis, social media intelligence collection, threat intelligence, open-source intelligence.
-Experience working in law enforcement.
-Working knowledge in intelligence gathering, monitoring and reporting.
-Effective oral and written communication through memos, presentations and other materials.
-Experience in public speaking.
-Experience with data analysis tools such as SyTech ADACS, Pen-Link, Snagit, Thomson Reuters CLEAR, LexisNexis, Accurint, Ringtail, and i2 Analysis Notebook.
-Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills; strong attention to detail and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Shifts/Hours:
Monday - Friday 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
