What this job involves:

Drive strategic occupancy excellence as a Senior Occupancy Planner with JLL, where you'll combine tactical occupancy management with interior design expertise to create transformative, data-driven workplaces that optimize space efficiency and support business objectives across building, campus, or regional levels for enterprise clients' portfolios. You'll serve as primary point of contact for enterprise clients' daily operational occupancy requests and strategic planning initiatives while fostering critical relationships across Corporate Real Estate, Business Unit leadership, Corporate Finance, Project Management, and Facility Management teams. This role positions you at the intersection of strategic planning and design innovation, where your expertise in space optimization, client relationship management, and design-focused space planning will directly impact workplace transformation and organizational success. Your contributions will support JLL's occupancy planning excellence while you develop comprehensive occupancy plans, leverage design sensibility for space assignments, conduct scenario planning and utilization analysis, and ensure alignment with corporate guidelines while enforcing space policies and design protocols.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Strategic Planning & Space Optimization:Develop and implement comprehensive occupancy plans and move sequencing strategies for designated regional portfolios while conducting scenario planning and space utilization analysis to maximize productivity and workspace efficiency
  • Design-Focused Space Planning:Apply interior design principles to negotiate space transfers between business units, demonstrate changes in block plan format, and utilize AutoCAD proficiency creating test-fits, space layouts, and square footage calculations optimizing function and design
  • Client Relationship & Program Management:Serve as primary point of contact for enterprise clients while facilitating seamless transitions from current operating models to JLL service delivery frameworks and participating in quarterly business reviews and annual performance evaluations
  • Data Management & Analytics:Manage monthly reporting schedules for people and space data plus occupancy metrics, conduct quarterly occupancy analytics providing strategic insights for client review, and provide data stewardship ensuring accuracy through quality checks
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Foster critical relationships across multiple stakeholders while ensuring planning alignment with corporate guidelines and enforcing space policies, standards, and design protocols across organizational levels
  • Building Audits & Verification:Conduct building audits in partnership with local onsite teams to verify employee locations, furniture layout, and room configurations while tracking and reporting space requests and associated KPIs measuring program effectiveness
  • Innovation & Future Planning:Recommend innovative design solutions accommodating dynamic workforce needs and emerging workplace trends while staying current with occupancy planning methodologies and championing design approaches to space management

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Real Estate, Design, or related field with minimum 8+ years of experience in occupancy planning, space management, or facility management
  • Background in interior design with demonstrated experience applying design principles to corporate workspace planning, understanding of interior design principles, space planning, and furniture layout optimization
  • Advanced proficiency in occupancy planning software and IWMS/CAFM platforms (OpenSpace or similar), strong AutoCAD skills for block planning and space layout documentation, and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities including pivot tables and complex calculations
  • Proven track record managing enterprise-level occupancy planning programs with experience in corporate real estate portfolio management and understanding of office space measurement standards (BOMA, IFMA, or RICS)
  • Ability to inspire clients achieving strategic space optimization through design-driven insights, think enterprise-wide solving complex occupancy challenges collaboratively, and transform complex data into clear actionable insights
  • Capability to build trust through transparent communication, challenge assumptions respectfully during planning discussions, and create compelling narratives around space utilization data inspiring informed decision-making
  • Commitment to staying current with emerging workplace trends and technologies while championing innovative design approaches and balancing immediate needs with long-term strategic planning objectives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced interior design background with portfolio demonstrating corporate workspace transformation, understanding of workplace strategy concepts and space optimization methodologies, and experience with design software and space planning tools
  • Professional certifications in interior design (NCIDQ), facility management (FMP, CFM), or space planning with active participation in industry organizations (IFMA, IIDA, CoreNet Global) demonstrating thought leadership
  • Experience with advanced space utilization analysis, workplace analytics platforms, or business intelligence tools that enhance data-driven decision-making and strategic insights for executive stakeholders
  • Background implementing innovative workplace technologies, supporting digital transformation initiatives, or leading adoption of new CAFM/IWMS platforms that enhance operational efficiency and client service
  • Experience supporting large-scale organizational change initiatives, workplace transformation programs, or cultural change management that demonstrates understanding of human-centered design principles
  • Proven track record serving enterprise-level clients, supporting executive decision-making, or leading cross-functional teams in complex corporate real estate environments with demonstrated business acumen
