We're looking for an experienced Stormwater Engineer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional results.

Why This Role Matters

As a Civil Engineer IV in our Water Environment group, you'll lead the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater projects from concept through construction. You'll serve as a trusted technical resource, coordinate across disciplines, mentor developing engineers, and build lasting client relationships while helping communities prepare for future growth.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater infrastructure projects.

  • Perform technical design for stormwater conveyance systems, detention and retention facilities, roadway drainage, bridge hydraulics, floodplain management, and water quality improvements.

  • Lead engineering projects including budgeting, scheduling, coordination, quality assurance, and client communication.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.

  • Prepare and review technical studies, reports, calculations, specifications, and engineering documents.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and technical excellence throughout project delivery.

  • Support business development through proposal preparation, scope development, and fee estimates.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of GBA's Water Environment practice.

As a Civil Engineer IV, you'll apply your professional expertise while taking on team lead and project lead responsibilities. You'll have the opportunity to lead projects, guide engineering teams, and serve as a trusted resource for technical excellence, best practices, and quality standards.

  • Lead functional teams and engineering projects with accountability for successful project outcomes.

  • Apply independent judgment in planning and executing work while adjusting priorities to meet project and client needs.

  • Coach, review, and delegate work to developing engineers to support their technical and professional growth.

  • Mentor others by demonstrating GBA's values and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

  • Proactively align your work with GBA's vision while helping strengthen our culture and contributing to continuous improvement across the Water Environment practice.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience.

  • PE licensure required.

  • Recognized industry certification (e.g., QEP, CEP).

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS software.

  • Experience in the design of stormwater, potable water, and wastewater systems.

  • Proficient with modeling software such as HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, GPS-X, PCSWMM, etc.

  • Proficiency with regulatory requirements for areas of desired specialty such as FEMA, EPA, state, and local regulations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

  • Demonstrates advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and support others in resolving complex issues.

  • Demonstrates advanced collaboration skills, leading teams through effective cross-discipline communication and joint problem-solving.
