The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with a practical, forward-looking approach to Agentic AI, workflow automation, systems implementation, change management, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and financial planning activities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial modeling.
  • Manage accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger.
  • Develop and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures to support company growth.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, lending requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor job costing, project profitability, work-in-progress reporting, and key performance metrics.
  • Lead annual audits and maintain relationships with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and tax advisors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and strategic recommendations for company leadership.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, capital investments, and expansion initiatives as needed.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead accounting and finance personnel.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Preferred: prior experience leading accounting functions within construction, utility, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based organizations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled business tools, including Agentic AI and workflow automation, with the ability to identify practical use cases that improve productivity, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Sage 300 CRE is highly desirable.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expert-level understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and revenue recognition.
  • Ability to translate financial information into actionable business recommendations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence decision-making across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining a strategic perspective.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to leverage emerging technologies, including Agentic AI, workflow automation, and business intelligence tools, to improve financial reporting, operational efficiency, and decision support.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations and the intersection of finance, payroll, benefits, compliance, and workforce planning.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement technology solutions that streamline business processes while maintaining appropriate internal controls.
  • Experience managing cross-functional technology projects from business case development through implementation, user adoption, and continuous improvement.
