Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Project Accounting Senior Analyst – Engineering Finance.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 – $126,000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you’ll do

Eaton’s Corporate Division is currently seeking a Project Accounting Analyst – Engineering Finance to join our team. This position can be based at our Beachwood, OH or Galesburg, MI locations with hybrid work available.

Position Overview

The Project Accounting Analyst – Engineering Finance provides operational support for Engineering project accounting across Eaton’s enterprise. This role manages day-to-day Oracle Project Accounting (PA) processes and ensures accurate, timely recording of engineering project costs. Working as part of a centralized Engineering Finance team, the analyst maintains data integrity and compliance in project cost pools, supports month‑end close, and assists with cost variance analysis. The position is execution‑focused, contributing to Eaton’s finance transformation by ensuring consistent, high‑quality project financial data across all engineering organizations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Month‑End Close: Support project accounting close activities by reconciling Project Accounting to the General Ledger and resolving discrepancies to ensure a timely, accurate close
  • Oracle Project Accounting & Labor Costing: Manage day‑to‑day labor costing in Oracle, including labor rate calculation, maintenance, and validation; coordinate with HR, Payroll, and upstream systems to ensure accurate project cost capture
  • Labor Rate & Cost Pool Support: Support development, analysis, and monitoring of engineering labor rates and cost pools, including absorption and utilization, to ensure appropriate cost recovery and financial compliance; assist with forecasting and annual planning for engineering resource groups and cost pools
  • Project Cost Control: Ensure project costs are accurately coded and posted; resolve errors and drive improvements to strengthen cost integrity and reduce rework
  • Project Recharge & Billing: Oversee project recharge and cross‑charge activities, including intercompany charges, and support project billing in alignment with project setup and financial requirements
  • Reporting & Analysis: Provide routine project cost, labor, and utilization reporting; support variance analysis and issue resolution for Engineering Finance and project stakeholders
  • Engineering Business Support: Serve as a finance partner to engineering teams, providing guidance on project setup, labor rates, cost treatment, and financial impacts to support informed decision‑making
  • Process Improvement & Systems: Partner with Engineering, Finance, and IT to standardize and improve project accounting and labor costing processes; support system implementations, automation, and standard work documentation
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute in a team environment through cross‑training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the engineering finance organization
QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting or finance experience
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Beachwood, OH or Galesburg, MI will be considered. Active‑Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
Skills
  • Ability to partner with engineering, project management, or operations teams in a business support role
  • Working knowledge of project cost flows, labor costing, and basic cost accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems; hands‑on experience with Oracle Project Accounting or similar project costing systems strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with labor rates, cost pools, absorption, and utilization concepts
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills; ability to investigate and resolve data issues
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, especially during month‑end close
  • Effective communication skills to interact with cross‑functional teams and explain financial processes
  • Collaboration and customer‑service mindset, working well in a team environment
  • High integrity and adherence to financial controls and compliance standards
  • Up to 10% travel required
