Job description

Supervising Mechanical Engineer (PE) - Critical Facilities / Healthcare / Aviation

Our client is seeking an experienced Supervising Mechanical Engineer (PE) to serve as the Engineer of Record on dedicated projects while leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project efforts. This senior leadership role requires strong technical expertise, project management experience, and the ability to mentor and supervise engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record for assigned projects.

  • Lead and supervise engineering staff, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

  • Conduct periodic employee performance evaluations.

  • Assist the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer with technical training and staff development.

  • Coordinate and assign engineering and system design projects.

  • Establish design standards, specifications, and project criteria.

  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage construction administration activities, including RFIs, field reports, bulletins, and addenda.

  • Prepare project proposals and administer client contracts.

  • Coordinate with the accounting team on monthly project invoicing and monitor accounts receivable.

  • Monitor project communications between staff, clients, contractors, and project owners.

  • Participate in budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and resource planning.

  • Oversee the preparation of engineering analyses, reports, and system evaluations.

  • Contribute to company-wide technical committees and engineering initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in an MEP consulting engineering environment.

  • At least 3 years of supervisory or engineering management experience.

  • Strong hands-on mechanical design experience.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Experience designing healthcare facilities is required.

  • Experience with Critical Facilities/Data Centers and large-scale projects is required.

  • Experience with commercial and aviation projects is highly preferred.
