Job Overview

Lancaster’s Custom Dock & Lift Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee technically complex marine construction projects performed on or over water. This is not a commercial building construction role. We are seeking a seasoned professional with a strong background in dock structures, marine construction, dredging, and shoreline or seawall installation and removal.

Our projects require precision planning, marine logistics coordination, and hands-on leadership in challenging environments. The ideal candidate has successfully managed operations from floating equipment, understands heavy civil risk management, and thrives in demanding marine construction settings.

Who We Are

Lancaster’s Custom Dock & Lift Systems, Inc. is a leader in marine construction specializing in the design, construction, and maintenance of high-quality dock systems, marina structures, and shoreline stabilization projects. Our team is known for delivering technically demanding projects with precision, safety, and craftsmanship.

Working with Lancaster’s means joining a team that values innovation, expertise, and collaboration while building durable waterfront infrastructure for residential, commercial, and marina clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle management of marine construction projects from preconstruction planning through project closeout
  • Oversee projects involving residential docks, private marina slips, and commercial marine structures
  • Develop and manage detailed work plans, cost structures, baseline schedules, and recovery schedules
  • Supervise deep-water operations, including pile driving (steel, concrete, and timber)
  • Manage marine logistics including barges, cranes, floating equipment, and specialty marine access systems
  • Coordinate work sequencing across navigable waterways and challenging marine environments
  • Direct collaboration between field leadership, engineering teams, subcontractors, and property owners
  • Maintain strict financial oversight including forecasting, cost tracking, productivity analysis, and change management
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders and contract modifications
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, lift plans, and engineered marine work plans
  • Support preconstruction and pursuit efforts including bid reviews, quantity takeoffs, pricing strategies, and risk analysis
  • Coordinate with public agencies including county and state permitting offices, Duke Energy, DOT, USACE, and marine authorities
  • Travel to active marine construction sites up to 75% as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in marine structural or infrastructure construction
  • Experience managing projects involving:
  • Marine substructures and superstructures
  • Dock and marina construction
  • Barge terminal construction
  • Deep foundation systems and pile-supported structures
  • Strong knowledge of marine construction methods, including work from floating platforms and temporary work in water
  • Experience managing public and private infrastructure contracts with complex regulatory requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
  • Strong background in cost control, forecasting, and contract administration
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field teams in high-risk marine environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with owners, engineers, inspectors, and executive leadership

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and project responsibility level
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance (depending on assignment)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Paid time off including holidays and vacation
  • Professional development and certification support
  • Strong team environment and opportunities for long-term career growth

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Monday through Friday
  • Project-based scheduling flexibility may be required depending on active construction operations.

Location

  • This role is based in Troutman, NC, with travel required to active marine construction job sites as projects demand.
