Job description

Our client, a leading transportation and logistics organization, is seeking a Manager, Truckload Procurement to drive carrier sourcing, transportation procurement, and network optimization initiatives across a national logistics network.

This role is ideal for a transportation procurement professional with experience managing carrier relationships, leading sourcing events, analyzing transportation markets, and developing cost-effective routing strategies. While carrying a manager title, this position is an individual contributor role with significant influence on transportation strategy and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead truckload, flatbed, and intermodal sourcing initiatives to secure reliable transportation capacity.
  • Manage carrier RFPs, bid events, and transportation procurement projects.
  • Analyze carrier proposals and market data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve service performance.
  • Support transportation contract negotiations and supplier agreements.
  • Develop and maintain routing strategies that optimize cost, capacity, and service levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and logistics service providers.
  • Monitor carrier performance, including on-time delivery, acceptance rates, and overall service quality.
  • Provide transportation market intelligence and procurement insights to support business planning and pricing strategies.
  • Partner with operations, transportation, and cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier performance, risk mitigation, and transportation efficiency.
  • Prepare procurement analysis, reporting, and recommendations for senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience.
  • 3+ years of transportation procurement, strategic sourcing, carrier management, or transportation contracting experience.
  • Proven experience managing transportation RFPs, carrier negotiations, and bid analysis.
  • Strong understanding of truckload transportation markets and carrier networks.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across multiple business functions.
  • Strong communication and relationship management abilities.

Preferred Background

  • Truckload, flatbed, and/or intermodal transportation procurement experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transportation networks.
  • Knowledge of transportation market trends, capacity planning, and carrier performance management.
