Roadway Grinder Operator Assistant

Job Summary

The Profile Grinder Operator Assistant โ€“ Will be responsible for assisting operator in safely and efficiently operating a roadway grinder. In this position, the Profile Grinder Operator will perform maintenance on the grinder, correct area defined by others and correct to stated specifications. While working as a team, a preferred applicant will also perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as well as participate in safety inspections and safety program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION
  • Assists in day to day activities of grinding operations including daily/monthly machine inspections, greasing, drill logs, and replacing cutting heads as needed
  • Will take an active role in safety initiatives
  • Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times
  • Assists in loading and transporting.
  • Participates in other tasks required by supervisor
  • Ability to manage several projects at once

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective coordination and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to be a team player in construction environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Job Requirements and Education

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Drives or hauls grinder to and from the project sites and assists Grinder Operator, Class A license with tanker endorsement is required
  • Complies with company vehicle driving rules and regulations
  • Reliable transportation
  • Obeys and follows applicable traffic laws
  • Follows all safety rules, housekeeping mandates, and reports hazards and incidents
  • Reports defects, accidents, and violations
  • Follows all verbal and written directions
  • Willingness and demonstrative ability to take direction from senior and executive management
  • Participates in required meetings
  • Is a productive team member that supports the team by going where needed, assisting where needed, and maintains good working relationships (coworkers, management, administration, and customers)
  • Ability to handle stress over long periods of time
  • Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical
  • High school education or GED equivalent
  • Must be safety conscious, dependable, motivated and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
  • ATF Clearance a plus
  • Extended hours may be required
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Climb ladder to 8 to 10 feet to access equipment
  • Clean excess slurry materials out of tank at the end of workday
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to maneuver heavy hoses
