Job Title: Production Machinist I
Location: Worcester, MA 01606
Schedule: 3rd Shift – 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM (30-minute lunch)
Duration: 4 Months + Extensions
Pay Rate: $25.00/hr.
 
Position Summary:
The Production Machinist I performs precision machining operations on manufactured parts with straightforward configurations and tolerances. This role involves operating a variety of machining equipment, including lathes, grinders, vertical mills, and metal cutting saws, while following established work orders, blueprints, and machining procedures.
The Machinist I works under the guidance of supervisors or senior machinists and contributes to high-production manufacturing operations by setting up machines, selecting proper tools, and maintaining required tolerances.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Machining & Production
  • Set up and operate machining equipment such as lathes, vertical mills, grinders, and metal cutting saws.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds based on materials and job specifications.
  • Perform machining operations according to work orders and blueprint specifications.
  • Conduct repetitive production machining while maintaining dimensional tolerances.
  • Create or modify rough fixturing with assistance from senior machinists when required.
Setup & Process Support:
  • Determine machining procedures, tooling, and operation sequence based on clear instructions and work orders.
  • Adjust machine settings according to pre-programmed instructions and machining requirements.
  • Collaborate with higher-level machinists to improve machining processes and support product development.
Inspection & Quality:
  • Inspect finished components using precision measuring tools, including:
  • Micrometers
  • Vernier calipers
  • Gauges
  • Indicators
  • Scales
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify machining issues and consult supervisors or senior machinists for resolution.
Documentation:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and program readouts.
  • Follow established machining procedures and production documentation.
  • Record production and inspection data as required.
