Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
This role involves operating multiple production machines in a clean, unionized manufacturing environment. You will load raw materials using an overhead crane and other material handling equipment, monitor machines to ensure consistent production, perform quality checks, and package finished products according to standards. You will also maintain accurate production records, keep your work area clean and safe, and promptly report any machine, quality, or production issues.
Responsibilities
- Load raw materials into machines using an overhead crane and other material handling equipment.
- Monitor up to five machines at a time to keep production running smoothly and minimize downtime.
- Clear minor jams and ensure machines are threaded and set up correctly.
- Perform regular quality checks on finished products to identify and remove defects.
- Package products according to established quality and packaging standards.
- Complete production records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Follow all health and safety procedures during machine operation and material handling.
- Report machine, quality, or production issues to supervisors or senior team members as needed.
- Work collaboratively in teams of three to four on each machine to meet production targets.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a machine operator.
- Proven experience in machine operating and machine operation in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
- Experience using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
- Background in general production, manufacturing, or general labor roles.
- Ability to perform basic quality checks and identify defects in finished products.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while monitoring multiple machines.
- Strong attention to detail for completing production records accurately.
- Commitment to following health and safety procedures and maintaining a safe work area.
- Willingness and ability to work different shifts and transfer between shifts as required.

- Previous experience in general labor, manufacturing, or packing roles.
- Experience working in a team-based production setting.
- Comfort working in a unionized environment.
- Ability to learn new tasks and adapt to different roles as opportunities arise.

- Reliability and punctuality for rotating or changing shift schedules.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, room-temperature warehouse with no strong odors or excessive noise. The facility is large, bright, and organized, with approximately 20 people working on each shift. You will work in teams of three to four on each machine in a unionized environment. Shifts include a morning shift from 7:00 AM to 3:25 PM, an afternoon shift from 3:25 PM to 11:50 PM, and a night shift from 10:30 PM to 7:05 AM, and you must be comfortable transferring to different shifts as needed. On your first day, you will complete a two-hour orientation focused on health and safety, followed by a plant tour, and then you will be guided to your designated workstation with support from a leader.
