Job description

Senior Energy Management Technician (BAS)
Division: Facility Services
Work Arrangement: Onsite only
Location: Houston, TX
Salary Range: $79,092 - $93,049
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Summary
Responsible for the commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and repair of environmental control systems, associated processes, and related components. Utilizes expertise in electronics, Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, airflow measurement, hydronic heating and chilled water systems, flow metering, electrical energy metering, and distributed data acquisition strategies to ensure optimal system performance. Proficient in the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of building automation systems, including Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens APOGEE, and Siemens Desigo CC platforms.
Requires advanced knowledge of operational, functional, and business systems, practices, and procedures, acquired through a combination of experience, formal education, and/or vocational training. Independently performs assigned duties with minimal supervision, consistently achieving day-to-day objectives that directly support departmental and organizational goals. Interprets and follows established policies, procedures, and work instructions, while remaining responsive to organizational communications and implementing directives as required. Demonstrates a high level of accountability by consistently meeting deadlines, exercising sound judgment and initiative to resolve issues, and delivering accurate, high-quality work products.
Job Duties
  • Performs maintenance, service and installations of all Building Automation Systems (BAS) throughout the College.
  • Monitors energy usage of key pieces of equipment, and devises methods to reduce power consumption by applying industry-leading machine logic to closely adjust energy consumption to match user demand.
  • Designs graphical interface to monitor machine operations, and alert the operator should energy consumption or machine operating parameters exceed nominal values.
  • Installs control system hardware and programs software for control system expansions.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Department-specific Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and meet Baylor College of Medicine's driving eligibility requirements, including a clean driving record and a minimum of three years of U.S. driving history.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens APOGEE, and Siemens Desigo CC platforms.
