ResponsibilitiesWhat you get to do every day:

You will support the Geospatial Services & Solutions business area to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the customer. As part of the GSS Team, the Linux Systems Engineer expertise is needed to support a sophisticated enterprise environment. The Linux Systems Engineer is an active participant in SAFe and Scrum development teams and meetings. The systems engineer will be responsible for supporting the customer's enterprise environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Linux-based infrastructureย in both on-premises and virtualized environments
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), including AHV, Prism Central, and Prism Element, to support enterprise Linux workloads
  • Collaborate with infrastructureย teams to provision, configure, and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and cluster resources within Nutanix environments
  • Develop and maintain automationย solutions using Ansible and scripting languagesย (e.g. Bash & Python)
  • Standardize system configuration, patching, and deployment processes through Infrastructure-as-Code practices
  • Administer and supportย Red Hat ecosystem tools, including Satellite and Capsule
  • Integrate and manage authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g. OAuth, SSO, identity providers)
  • Support the development of dashboards and observability solutions using tools such as Grafana and Zabbix
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux systemsย and Nutanix infrastructureย for performance, availability, and capacity
  • Troubleshoot complexย system, virtualization, storage, networking, and integration issues across distributedย environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency
  • Document system architecture, processes, automation, and infrastructure standards
  • Contribute to continuousย improvement initiatives including automation maturity, platform modernization, and operational best practices
Qualifications

Clearance Required: Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Polyย 

Education/Experience:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • 5+ years of experience administering and engineering Linux systems in enterprise environments, including experience supporting enterprise virtualization platforms such as Nutanix
Required Skills:
  • Solid understanding of Linux system administration fundamentals (networking, storage, security, and OS internals)
  • Strong expertise in configuration management and automation using Ansible
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and tooling
  • Experience managing Red Hat-based environments (RHEL, Satellite, Capsule, or similar tools)
  • Hands-on experience administering Nutanix HCI environments, including AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, virtual machine lifecycle management, storage, networking and cluster operations
  • Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Linux virtual machines in Nutanix environments
  • Understanding of virtualization, hypervisor technologies, storageย and networking concepts
  • Experience troubleshootingย complex infrastructure, virtualization, and performance issues
  • Experience implementing security best practice in Linux environments
  • Experience with monitoringย and alerting systems
  • Strong problem-solvingย skills and ability to work independently

What is ideal?

  • Experience with Nutanix advanced capabilities such as Files, Objects, Flow, Calm, or Disaster Recovery.
  • Experience with Nutanix automation using APIs, PowerShell, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Experience with load balancingย devices such as HAProxy or F5
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts (e.g. OAuth, LDAP, SSO)
  • Experience with observability and dashboarding tools such as Grafana and Zabbix
  • Familiarity with containerizationย technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelinesย and integration with infrastructureย automation
  • Experience with VMWare-to-Nutanix migration or hybrid virtualization environments
  • Strong communication and documentationย skills
  • Intelligence Community Experience preferred

  • The expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $113,000-$139,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements. This is not a guarantee.
