Linux Operating System Engineer (RHEL8) โ€“ Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Linux Operating System Engineer to manage, maintain, and support enterprise Linux infrastructure across both On-Premises Data Centers and AWS Cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8) administration, automation, troubleshooting, infrastructure operations, and IT Service Management processes utilizing ITIL best practices and ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and support RHEL 8 servers in both On-Premises and AWS environments.
Perform Linux server provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
Manage system performance, capacity planning, and availability to ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
Monitor infrastructure health and proactively address performance bottlenecks and operational risks.
Troubleshoot complex Linux OS, application, storage, and network-related issues.
Implement OS hardening, security controls, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
Manage AWS-based Linux workloads, including EC2 instances, EBS storage, security groups, and cloud networking components.
Collaborate with application, database, network, and security teams to resolve incidents and support business services.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible to streamline operational tasks.
Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
Execute change, incident, problem, and request management activities in accordance with ITIL processes.
Utilize ServiceNow for incident tracking, change implementation, problem management, and service requests.
Create and maintain operational documentation, technical procedures, and knowledge base articles.
Participate in on-call support and major incident management activities as required.
