Job Summary:
ShiftCode Analytics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to lead Linux systems engineering for Charter Communications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing system enhancements, while driving best practices in development.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Lead in the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution Linux systems engineering for the Charter Datacenter.
โ€ข Drives identification and adoption of best-in-class development.
โ€ข Designs, develops and implements platform enhancements and makes recommendations for improvements.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
โ€ข Minimum eight years of experience in UNIX/Linux engineering/administration
โ€ข Solid (RPM and Debian) Linux engineering, troubleshooting, testing and hardening experience
โ€ข Experience using new RPM tools like ip, dnf, nmcli ...
โ€ข Experience using apt, ubiquity, debian installer, ufw
โ€ข Familiar writing, reading and understanding yaml, and json files
โ€ข Automation/Scripting skills: perl, bash and python
โ€ข Hands-on experience designing, implementing and optimizing Linux file-systems
โ€ข Experience with vcenter, vmware ovftool, and hashicorp vault and packer tools
โ€ข Knowledge of CIS Workbench hardening, Linux Test Project and eliciting test cases; experience with Linux troubleshooting, hardening, and performance tuning
โ€ข Gitlab experience creating workflows, CI/CD pipelines, setting variables
โ€ข Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
โ€ข Can clearly and professionally communicate with peers and solution vendors, both in person and through approved electronic communication means.
โ€ข Ability to schedule and coordinate multiple projects, communicate project requirements and objectives.
โ€ข Ability to meet deliverable objectives with minimal supervision.
โ€ข Understanding of Telco or related service provider services and technologies.
Preferred:
โ€ข Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD)
โ€ข experience with LDAP mandatory
โ€ข experience with API-driven configuration
โ€ข Write and review pull/merge requests in Git
โ€ข Hands-on experience with creating Linux system images and publishing to a repository system such as Artifactory, etc.
