Senior Line Producer information

What is a senior line producer?

A Senior Line Producer is an experienced production professional responsible for managing the budget, schedule, and day-to-day operations of a film, television, or video production. They oversee the logistics, coordinate between different departments, and ensure that the project stays on track both financially and creatively. Senior Line Producers often supervise other producers and production staff, making sure that resources are used efficiently and that production goals are met. Their role is crucial in balancing creative vision with practical constraints, ensuring the project's successful completion.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior line producer?

To thrive as a Senior Line Producer, you need extensive experience in production management, budgeting, scheduling, and a thorough understanding of the production process, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent industry experience. Proficiency in production management software like Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling is typically required, as well as familiarity with union regulations and legal compliance. Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills distinguish outstanding Senior Line Producers, along with the ability to communicate clearly across diverse teams. These competencies are vital to ensure productions are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high creative and technical standards.

What are some common challenges faced by senior line producers when managing multiple production projects simultaneously?

Senior Line Producers often juggle several projects at different stages, which requires exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Coordinating resources, schedules, and budgets across multiple productions can be complex and may involve rapidly shifting priorities. Additionally, maintaining clear communication with creative teams, vendors, and executives is crucial to ensure that all projects stay on track and meet quality standards. Successful Senior Line Producers are adept at problem-solving and can adapt quickly to unforeseen changes while keeping their teams motivated and focused.

Job description

North Six is a global production agency specialising in fashion, beauty, luxury and lifestyle content, producing stills, motion, branded content and experiential activations for some of the world's most iconic brands, including LVMH, Estee Lauder, Graff and Chanel.
The Role

North Six is looking for a highly experienced Senior Producer to join our London production team, reporting into the Head of Production. This is a senior, hands-on role for a knowledgeable producer who is fluent in the language of fashion, with a strong track record leading travel productions and campaign films for fashion, beauty and luxury clients, from brief through to final delivery. You'll take ownership of North Six's highest-profile client relationships, work closely with our PR and communications partners to deliver joined-up campaigns, and help mentor and develop the production team around you.

Lead travel productions and campaign films - owning end-to-end delivery of location and travel shoots, campaign films and branded content, from brief and treatment through pre-production, shoot and post.
Bring deep fashion fluency to every production - understanding the language, references and standards of fashion, beauty and luxury content well enough to guide creative and production decisions.
Partner with PR and communications - working closely with PR and communications teams to align production planning with press and media requirements, including press imagery, media days, embargoes, and talent/influencer logistics.
Own senior client relationships - acting as the primary point of contact for key accounts throughout production, managing expectations, senior stakeholder communication and creative sign-off.
Build, manage and reconcile production budgets - across larger and more complex projects, including international travel budgets, ensuring accurate cost reporting and commercial delivery at wrap.
Develop production schedules and shoot plans, keeping all workstreams - stills, motion and travel logistics - on track and flagging risks early.
Source, brief and book crew, directors, talent, locations and suppliers, drawing on an established fashion and motion content network, including internationally for travel jobs.
Negotiate rates and contracts with freelancers, suppliers and talent, in line with North Six's commercial and legal standards.
Manage on-set logistics and troubleshoot issues in real time, ensuring shoots - including complex international travel jobs - run smoothly and safely.
Ensure full production compliance with health & safety, insurance, licensing, visas/carnets and other legal requirements across domestic and international shoots.
Oversee post-production, coordinating editors, colourists, sound and other post partners to deliver to spec and on schedule.
Mentor and support Producers and Junior Producers, and assist the Head of Production with resourcing, scheduling and continuous improvement of production processes across the slate.
Maintain and grow a trusted network of crew, directors and suppliers, and share knowledge of new talent, motion content trends and techniques with the wider team.

8+ years' experience as a Senior Producer or Producer within a production company, creative or content agency, or in-house studio, with significant fashion, beauty or luxury production experience.
Genuine fluency in fashion - someone who understands and speaks the language of fashion, with the taste level and references to be trusted by clients and creative teams.
Travel production experience - a proven track record producing location and travel jobs, including international logistics, permits and crewing.
Campaign film and motion content experience - a proven track record producing motion/moving image work (campaign films, branded video, social content) as well as stills.
Experience working alongside PR and communications teams, with an understanding of how press and media requirements shape production planning.
French language skills - fluency or strong working proficiency in French is highly desirable, given North Six's client and shoot base.
A strong track record managing production budgets and schedules, with excellent financial and commercial acumen.
Confident negotiation and vendor management skills.
Ability to lead multiple productions simultaneously and deliver under tight deadlines.
Solid working knowledge of health & safety and production compliance requirements.
Excellent communication and senior stakeholder management skills, with confidence liaising directly with clients.
An established black book of crew, talent and supplier contacts across fashion and motion content, including international contacts for travel jobs.
Highly organised, detail-oriented and calm under pressure, with experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.

Desirable

Further languages - Spanish, German or Italian, in addition to French, would all be a strong plus given North Six's international client and production base.
Experience producing live brand events or experiential activations - a bonus rather than a requirement.
Experience collaborating closely with PR, social and VIP experience teams on integrated campaigns.
Existing relationships with fashion, beauty and luxury brand clients or their agencies.
